The island was hit by another dash of cold weather & snow. This time it was just on the higher ground. Taken from Druidsdale, in the middle of the island, with the old tholton house "montpelier" in the foreground, looking towards Snaefell Mountain, wihich is apptly named as in old Norse it means, snow mountain.
"Frosty Red Cherries - Bunch" by Patti Deters. This closeup of a bunch of red crab apple cherries shows the bright red fruit still clinging to tree branches, frozen solid and frosted with ice and snow. Hoar frost brings out the beauty of these little fruits, while the cold weather preserves them a bit for birds and other animals that eat the nutritious berries. Crabapple trees are generally known for their pretty spring blooms, but when covered in icy hoar frost, I think winter is when they are most beautiful. I don't get down to the Ohio River at sunrise often, and when I do, I hang around to see all that I can.
It's currently 19 degrees F (-7 C) where I live, but the high today should reach forty F (4 C)! Spring is coming!
It was 6 degrees, -13 when factoring in the wind chill. It was still not my coldest photo taking experience of the week. I find myself enjoying the winter scenery around here more and more.

Just after New year, I traveled to my hometown by train.. Early morning I woke up by this cold wind thorugh windows and the breeze of foggy air.
It's beautfiul scenery between Sisaket and Ubonratchathani where paddy filed are scattered with high trees. It's high land, far from river and only rainfed agricutlure..so the land is used for planting rice just from May - November. After rainy season harvesting, the land is just dried golden bared field. Local people move to big city to work and come back again in rainmy season.. Season and lifev are just cylcle like this.
Sun was rising high but through thick fog, the sunlight was so gentle and tinted the fog with warnm orange color.

Not your typical San Antonio weather but this is what we in South Texas woke up to this morning. Single-digit temperatures and a nice blanket of snow.

Panorama view from Rt-160 / North Road in Parsonsfield today, we had some mighty cold looking November clouds passing over all day driven by a strong north west wind.
This picture is not sharp. My camera got frozen in a moment. The lens were so slow to focus.
Yeah, it's not cold yet. Waiting for -50ºC.
