Winter Photo. A Steven Chateauneuf Creation.
PLEASE do NOT post this image on other websites without my permission.
Late February in my hometown of Queens Village NY (Queens NYC), and the cold was still biting hard. The sun was dropping fast, casting this deep golden light down the street while people crossed, cars rolled by, and everyone seemed to be heading home at the end of the workday. I loved the contrast of the warm glow against the winter air. Just one of those ordinary city moments that lasts only a minute or two, but feels worth stopping for.

This is the (large) parish church of St Lawrence in Hatfield near to Doncaster. Taken on the same day as my previous misty and foggy images, the blue sky added some great colour to the next set of images I took on Sunday 05/02/2012. A 20 minute drive from my last location and a whole new world, no more gloomy weather, just sunshine and snow now for the rest of the afternoon.
This church is in the Diocese of Sheffield and could easily pass as a large city cathedral instead of the small market town parish church that it is.

But sometimes, it seems so.

Thankfully this 263 was replacing a Credo on the day of our visit @Sárospatak, so we got the chance to snap some pictures of it delivering passengers from Makkoshotyka to Sárospatak.
Big thanks to Tamás once again for operating the Ikarus-hotline :D

One more winter photo before winter is entirely gone. Winter does sometimes come again here in March, briefly; so time will tell. This is another winter photo I have been meaning to post for a long time.
Location: Tüllingerhügel (Tuellinger Hill) above Lörrach-Stetten, Baden-Württemberg DE. It is right on the border with Canton Basel-Stadt CH. There is a glimpse of L-S down below, on the left.

The island was hit by another dash of cold weather & snow. This time it was just on the higher ground. Taken from Druidsdale, in the middle of the island, with the old tholton house "montpelier" in the foreground, looking towards Snaefell Mountain, wihich is apptly named as in old Norse it means, snow mountain.
"Frosty Red Cherries - Bunch" by Patti Deters. This closeup of a bunch of red crab apple cherries shows the bright red fruit still clinging to tree branches, frozen solid and frosted with ice and snow. Hoar frost brings out the beauty of these little fruits, while the cold weather preserves them a bit for birds and other animals that eat the nutritious berries. Crabapple trees are generally known for their pretty spring blooms, but when covered in icy hoar frost, I think winter is when they are most beautiful. This is one of several in this series, with links to others below.
