Our frigid temperatures have kept the ice from last weeks ice storm on the trees even though the sun has been shining brightly, it's been below freezing now for over a week, this morning it was -13 below zero and only warmed up to 7.F today and we have another very cold night ahead.

Watching the weather this evening I see that a lot of the country had windy conditions and a lot of damage from it.

The last week was very cold here on West Pond and the ice has finally covered the entire pond.
The temperature got up to 33.F today so I ventured out for a few photos mid afternoon.
A female mallard duck on ice...One of the many joys of the seasonal flooded farm field...wildlife galore!
Cool fact: The Mallard is the ancestor of nearly all domestic duck breeds. They prefer calm, shallow sanctuaries, but can be found in almost any body of freshwater across Asia, Europe, and North America. They’re also found in saltwater and brackish water and are commonly found in wetlands.

Through the mist I caught sight of something moving around the trees. Stopping the car to take a look and it was a flock of sheep, probably mingling with the trees to keep off the worst of the snow in this upland part of Weardale in County Durham.
Somewhere in the Antarctic Peninsula, from the Crow's Nest of the "beautiful, elegant, Oosterdam." These were the adjectives the captain used to describe his ship everyday for 22 days as he addressed us from the bridge. We started saying it with him!

The kind of day when the wind shakes the house as it comes in gust.
Spring is close at hand but today was more wintry as snow showers and sunlight fought it out for dominance.
I was at the lake when I saw this beautiful dog on a walk with it's owner. I took several shots of the dog. It was not until I was processing that I discovered the dog and owner were matching strides perfectly step for step. They were using the same foot at the same time.
