Rush, CO - I was on my way to see a friend when I saw this stark tree in the middle of nowhere. I knew it was cold however I had no idea how cold it really was until I got out of my Jeep to take this picture. I took about three shots and jumped back in the vehicle.
What you can’t tell in this picture is how hard the wind was blowing, it felt like my eyes were freezing in my sockets even though I was out in the elements for only about a minute.
As the sun cracks the horizon, a full Cold Moon sets over the 150 West Jefferson Building in downtown Detroit.
On this day, a large cold upper level low moved in from California and initiated high wind warnings over much of Arizona (I received gusts to 40 mph). Just after this system passed, temperatures dropped from the mid 40's to 32F with a wintery mix of rain/snow, grapple, ice pellets, etc. The odd looking cloud at center could have been hiding a cold funnel since I observed a weak rotation.
Taken at 2:45PM from Oracle, Arizona.

After last week's week long freeze, yesterday and today we are hovering at 80 degrees and returning rain.
btw...I think the softness of this comes from me shivering, but I still like it because of the light...;)
Ice was floating on Gothia River today. Snow was falling and the sky was boring gray, a perfect scene for a B&W photo for day 28 in the "2019: one photo each day" group.

Photo taken on a cold winter morning in Central Park, New York City, after a fairly recent snowfall of about 8 inches. Although the temperature was cold, it made for a refreshing walk and a nice change of pace from temperatures in Texas.

A cold windy winter afternoon at Wharariki Beach in New Zealand. A blend of three images for the long exposure, sea stack and foreground. Not a new image but a rego at an old one I really liked.
I just returned from Iceland and I am sharing today one of my favourite natural attractions: the spiky, 'horny' mountain of east Iceland in the Hvalnes peninsula, the mighty Vestrahorn of Stokksnes. Vestrahorn is a 454 meter high scree mountain overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and part of the headland of Stokksnes. It’s mainly made up of gabbro and granophyre rocks. The shore features stunning lava dunes that are constantly being shaped by the natural forces of water and wind. One of the first settlements in Iceland were found in this area.
The site is very popular among photographers, because the scene changes constantly. The sun, fog, waves and those black dunes perform a truly dramatic view. This is one more place to add to the Icelandic bucket list. I was disappointed upon my arrival at this area, as it was raining and the wind was unbearable. Luckily, the rain stopped for a few minutes and I was able to capture this might mountain, despite the strong, cold wind.
For those interested in the technical details, this is single shot capture with Nikon D750 and Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8; 30 seconds exposure with Lee 0.9 soft graduated ND filter plus the big stopper at f/11 and ISO 100.
Thank you very much in advance for your comments and likes, and I apologise if I missed your post the past two weeks.
