The cleaner.
She looked tired and no doubt she had reason to do so.
Perhaps she had already completed a long and thankless shift cleaning up after other people. Most likely working for a pittance.
She was young, maybe she is a student working part time to pay her way through her studies. Maybe she is a young single mother trying to put food on the table.
We may never know her true story.
Its a funny yet sad situation the way we tend to treat people who undertake menial tasks.

73 213 has been on Rail Head Treatment Train duties during the autumn, hence the filthy condition of the loco. Re-engined 73 961 was at the front of a Network Rail test train, waiting for a path onto the North Downs route to Guildford.

When a squirrel jumped into the finch feeder, it sent seed flying everywhere. A bit later I spotted a junco being helpful and cleaning up all the seed that had landed on the sidewalk.

I like old handmade signs like this one for Exclusive Cleaners on Goldsboro Street in Wilson, North Carolina.
Lawton Dry Cleaners in Brattleboro, Vermont closed in 2013 when the 85-year-old owner, who started working at the shop in 1955 and bought it in 1978, decided it was time to do something else.
The graffiti on the walls and chimney in this 2022 photo have since been removed.
