Another stormy time.Taken from the wild cliffs above Newhaven where it was easy to be blown over. Shot that was entered in my camera club last week, taken during storm Brian.
Image info:- Nikon D4 with Nikon 300mm f/2.8 lens @ f/9, ISO 200, shutter 1/2000.
This shot came out supper vibrant for some reason. It was located on an Island of flowers that borders Italy and Switzerland
A one-location family owned business which has operated for more than 50 years. Based on snippets of conversations that I have overheard between staff and customers in their parking lot, this place provides old-school, small town friendly service and its customers are loyal.

As George Formby put it:
"Now I go cleanin' windows to earn an honest bob
For a nosy parker it's an interestin' job
Now it's a job that just suits me
A window cleaner you would be
If you can see what I can see
When I'm cleanin' windows"
"When you step into the road", he says, "you take your life into your own hands." And then he adds, "they just run you over." Fuji X-Pro1.
This photo was taken in Markyate, Hertfordshire. As a category, "street photography" would spring to mind. In truth, this an unplanned image. There was a traffic congestion in the village, and the street cleaner popping up. I had no time to really frame the shot. In an ideal world, I would not have cut off the street cleaner's legs, would have been farther away from the scene and would have set the aperture to F1.2 (which this lens can do) in order to throw the background out of focus and concentrate on the man. So, why did I keep and publish this image? What the man had to say was the decisive factor.
Looks can be deceiving, as from a slightly elevated position, this long freight train is actually climbing up the one in 50 grade through Allard.
The abnormally clean Warbonnets were a bonus, as were three mid-train helpers that are unfortunately hidden behind one of the kinks here (two 40-2s and a dash 9). The underexposed, grainy back-focussed, fungus-infested slide was the opposite of a bonus, but it's cleaned up reasonably well. Oh to take a digital camera and a few decent lenses for a trip in Doc's DeLorean Time Machine...

As we left the capital city, Wellington I saw window cleaners on ropes. They were on the Beehive (Māori: Te Whare Mīere) which is the common name for the Executive Wing of New Zealand Parliament Buildings. This is where our coalition government rules from. In the last few days they finally decided to go ahead with the new hospital for Dunedin. For several months we had $48 million worth of piles waiting for a decision to continue building or not. Fortunately they are now going to continue.
At 5 pm here it is 22C with sun and light breeze. The back to school summer continues.
Located at Mortimer and Cosburn, Bestway Cleaners have been there since 1968. The neon signs (I'm yet to get a picture of the other that I am pleased with) were a beacon that we were almost home. I'm glad the sign was refurbished and still shines .
