This stand of maples in Chipp-A-Waters park in Mount Pleasant always puts on a great show in the fall.

There all the borders, trimmed with box,

were filled with favourite flowers, with phlox,

with lupins, pinks, and hollyhocks,

beneath a red may-tree;

and all the gardens full of folk

that their own little language spoke,

but not to You and Me.

As this plaque reports, the Agricultural College of Michigan was founded in 1855 as the first land-grant college in the United States. It became a model for the Morrill Act (1862) that led to the founding of state universities across the country. Following several name changes on the agriculture theme, the East Lansing school finally became Michigan State University in 1964.

The Erie Club, incorporated in 1882, advertises itself as "the finest private social club in northwest Pennsylvania." Located in the Charles Manning Reed Mansion (built 1846-1848 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982), the club has a dress code requiring business casual for lunch and ties (or turtlenecks) for dinner. Denim, t-shirts, sweats, and flip-flops are forbidden at all times.

If you're ever in Crossville, TN, you have to stop by this place. It's the "Minister's Treehouse," and it's at the end of Beehive Lane. There aren't any signs leading to it, but if you follow Google Maps, you'll get there.

The story is that a minister, Horace Burgess, received a message from God--"Build it, and they will come." Maybe he had just got done watching a well-known Kevin Costner movie (but I'm only guessing). But after that, he started building, and building, and building. After Horace put down the hammer, others weilded it in his place. The treehouse is nearly 100 feet tall at its apex, and the complex encompasses about 10,000 sqare feet of interior space. It houses a church sanctuary that is used every Sunday. There isn't a poor seat in the house.

It's open 7am-7pm on sunny days, and guests are welcome to explore the place if they'd like, free of charge. Donations are graciously accepted, though...

Trying out a Hansa CP I had in a drawer. Difficult to colour balance.

I've hiked back to this waterfall 4 times now and though here it has far from optimum flow conditions, this is the first time I've seen it with enough water to look halfway decent. This is a simply spectacular waterfall if you're lucky enough to catch it after 2 or 3 days of steady rain. Someday my timing will be right.

had to do a double take as we were crossing one of the small footbridges in Venice, Italy heading back to our hotel, as i thought i saw a silhouette of a foot coming out from one of the gondolas under another bridge...upon closer inspection, i was totally right and it was indeed a gondolier taking a nap in his gondola...me and wife just smiled and i had to take a shot of this awesome siesta moment...pls. The Carnegie Library in Howell Michigan opened in 1906 and continues to serve as the town's public library today.

While continuing to go through my un-processed shots from last year I stumbled on this gem - I can't believe I considered this a reject last December!

Can Gio beach is on an ecological reserved island located in the South East of Ho Chi Minh City. This beach is wild, lots of trashes, and primarily for clam picking.

It was Hung Kings' holiday, and I went there mainly for enjoying freshly caught seafoods from the fisherman's market. The weather was raining lightly with dark clouds covering the sky, therefore I didn't expect to take any good picture in that weather condition. Nevertheless, I brought my camera equipment along anyway, kind of fishing for that magical moment when the sun rays breaking through

I arrived at 5:45 am, about the time of sunrise according the weather forecast. Suddenly, the dark clouds were torn open, making way for lines of sun rays punching through. In an instant, the sky became splendidly dreamy and magical.

Quickly grabbed my camera and tripod, I ran as fast as I could down the beach, at the same time searching for any interesting foreground subject to shoot with, and above is what I found.

There were lots of clam shells scattering everywhere on this beach, hence they reflected like a bright galaxy on the dark muddy sand.

Graduated Neutral Density filter was used for reducing the sky brightness and bringing out the clouds.

Circular Polarizer filter for further enhancing the clouds and removing the reflection on the rocks.

When I'm alone I'm feeling blue

Faintly the dream of a true and wonderful world

And no one will care as long as the world will turn

Amber and I set out today to test out my new Paul C. Buff beauty dish (HOBD). So far, I'm fairly happy with the results.

Cymbals are incredible - but the person standing behind these is even more so.

The weather was nice, so a great opportunity to play with filters again. The last time I visited this waterfall in the sunshine, I did not yet have any filters, so trying to get the long exposure "soft water" effect resulted in a lot of glaring overexposure of sunny spots. This one was taken using the ND8 and circular polarizer stacked on each other and a bit of processing in Photoshop to brighten up the midtones and shadows.

Sunrise is REALLY EARLY on the east coast (especially when you haven't converted from pacific time...), but it was totally worth it. I got to get out and shoot with some of my landscaping buddies in Rhode Island and visit one of my old haunts.

I'm looking forward to taking a quick trip up to Sonoma County's coastline in the coming weeks to (hopefully) catch the lupine in bloom with some sea stack action in the background. :)

It's rainin' but there ain't a cloud in the sky

Musta been a tear from your eye

Everything'll be okay

Funny thought I felt a sweet summer breeze

Musta been you sighin' so deep

Don't worry we're gonna find a way

I'm waitin', waitin' on a sunny day

Gonna chase the clouds away

It was atleast a month since it rained. But today, suddenly the sky went dark for sometime. But yeah, Bangalore rains are always playful. It will never rain when you think it will.

Another gorgeous Tobago sunset.
