The Fujinon XF 16-55mm F2.8 LM WR is the premium standard zoom for the Fuji X system. It has a full frame focal length equivalent of 24-84mm, meaning that it can cover everything from landscape to portraits (as you can see in this gallery). While not a perfect lens, it does most everything very well, and the images I was able to get with it really pleased me. My review coverage can be seen here:

Living in western New York Mother Nature doesn’t give us great weekend weather all year round. So you need to take advantage of them when she does. This weekend was no exception. So I took a short drive to Niagara Falls State Park and over to Goat Island.

History

Goat Island is a small uninhabited island in the Niagara River, located in the middle of Niagara Falls between the Bridal Veil Falls and Horseshoe Falls. The island is at the southwest corner of the City of Niagara Falls, NY, in the United States.

Goat Island is a popular destination for tourists visiting the falls on the U.S. side, offering some of the most spectacular views available there, in particular at Terrapin Point. It is connected to the U.S. mainland by two bridges carrying foot, car, and trackless train traffic. The island is largely wooded and is interlaced with foot trails. An elevator provides access down to the foot of the falls and to the Cave of the Winds tour. [Wiki]

Why not, here's another from the spillway yesterday evening. Once again a long exposure, utilizing a shutter speed of 30 seconds to depict motion in the waters surging down to the sandy and rocky deposits as twilight/early night falls, and advancing clouds hover across the sky signaling rain - this shot is facing west.

I have a few others from yesterday on here as well, just check out my page to see them.

Thanks again and have a good day all!

When I walked outside this morning, I noticed how wonderful the sky looked. I grabbed a pair of polarized sunglasses to see how great the sky would look if under-exposed while using a circular polarizer. It looked great. So, I set up some equipment and popped off more frames than I care to admit. In the end, this was my favorite. It's certainly not one of my best, but the richness of the sky pushed it over the top of the "flickr-post threshold" for me.

This three exposure HDR images captures a lone tree, bursting with color, rising out of the tangle of autumn chaos. I used a Hoya Circular Polarizer stacked on top of a Hoya ND8 filter to compete with the powerful sun.

Technical info: Canon 60D, Canon EF-S 15-85mm, Hoya ND8 filter, Hoya Circular Polarizer, three exposure HDR (+3, 0, -3 EV), tonemapped in Photomatix Pro, then processed in Adobe Lightroom and Alien Skin Exposure, and finally Photoshop CS5 (for the frame and signature).

Very often,I have been asked a same question by my friends and relatives. yes the question is HOW DID YOU KEEPING A GOOD FRIENDSHIP with your boys and their friends? and one of my relative further told "we paranets always keep the little bit distance.. then only they give respect!!!

i never bothered neither the fake respect infront of me nor irrespect at the backside of me!!!

let them enjoy themself as the elders we can share the happiness or atleast see the enjoyment...!!! but in my opinion they(the parents) never spend a good time with them .. it doesn't mean every weekend you have to take your children out.. i spend a quality time everyday with my children... i never asked my boys to do their home work.. infact the elder one never touches his book at home... he finished his work in the school itself...!! always scoring above 90% why should i bother about their studies? well the other guys also when they are coming to my home i mingled with them .. sharing jokes, some times i played with them.. infact the whole colony watching our play ...!! when every body asking the same question about the relationship with the childrens .. my reply is just a smile ... and i feel when i talk to them i consider that i am 12 years old.. when i talking to the elder person my age is 60.. this is the way i understand my life...!!

but offlate i feel the reason is

I am a fatherless son..

but my son is not...

i dont know how the son have a relationship with his father?

but i know how the father behaves with his son?

now i feel the fatherhood of a SON!!!!

but still i am a fatherless!!!!

The Samyang AF 85mm F1.4 for Sony FE may be a game changer for a lot of people, offering up really fantastic image quality, quality AF in most situations, and a very nice build for an extremely good price. This is the kind of lens that could entice people over to Sony, and I'm personally a fan of the lens. If you want to know more about this exciting new lens, check out my coverage through the links below:

An edit of a photo that I took over 14 years ago with my Canon EOS 30D shortly after I got it in the summer of 2006. The 30D was my first DSLR and my first camera with swappable lenses.

I used the (not very good) EF-S 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM for quite some time until I bought a few prime lenses. This image is from a series of tests I did with my then brand new circular polarizer filter. Revisiting the image, I made adjustments and applied a lookup table in Luminar 4.

First in an occasional series. The assignment is to do portraits of 25 strangers, a daunting task for an introvert. This gentleman was very gracious, just like most of the people I approached yesterday. Seven down, eighteen to go! I'll post some of of the better shots.

Rain is an uncommon event in Arizona dessert. On the first day of our trip there, in rained for about 36 hours straight causing our photo tour through the incredible Lower Antelope Canyon to be pushed to the next day and then a few more hours for the staff to make the hike suitable. What resulted was two days worth of tours crammed into one half-day's time. While the canyon was overrun with masses of humanity, the previous day's rain washed away the dust leaving vibrant colors and a lack of blowing sand (to the benefit of the cameras). A unique place, glad to have visited, but crazy experience. Enjoy!

I keep experimenting before my upcoming summer vacations where I will be shooting some new landscapes again.

This time I did some comparative tests with and without a very strong neutral density filter made by B+W the ND3.0 1000x. It has the ability to darken the image by 10 stops and force the photographer to use extra slow shutter speeds (from a few sec to several minutes depending on the aperture selected on the lens and the outdoor sunlight).

The exposure time takes so much time to impregnate the image of still objects that the moving objects like passers-by of cars will not stay long enough in the picture to be recorded like the rest of the picture.

This is a great application for city center photography of famous places where there are always people walking and obscuring the picture. Same if we want to eliminate cars from the picture as I did here.

It is not 100% natural and one can see some small haze created by the passing cars. This is a great application for night photography. One drawback of this filter is that it is so dark (it is actually black and one cannot see through unless in full sunlight) that the meter of the camera seems to be confused and in this case underexposed of 4 to 5 stops. I had to set my camera to +5EV exposure compensation to get a normal exposure on my LCD screen. Also this filter is not color neutral: it has a tendency to add some warm colors (yellow tint) which can be corrected in post-processing if this is bothering.

I must give the credit of trying this filter to Aubrey Stoll who has a great collection of night and day photography made with strong neutral density filters including this one (see www.flickr.com/photos/nightgallery/4196428654/)

All photos done on Gitzo Tripod and remote trigger cord Nikon MC-30. Camera was set in Manual mode and bulb with manual timing on my watch in order to attain the long exposure times of nearly 2 minutes for example.

Just out hanging with some friends and decided to snap a shot or two of my buddies Nismo 350z. Should be stanced soon :D

Chicago's skyline as seen from the South Loop area by the planetarium...

I took my Sigma's lens cap and my bright-outdoor filters (a circular polarizer and a UV filter), and plopped these down on a film tank reel. Set up my opposing studio lights and started shooting.

I wanted a good baseline of how the light really treats the finer details (like letters). The result ended up kind of cool so I think that it's worthy of posting here.

this was recently captured around Montrose Harbor in the north side of Chicago as beautiful summer nights like this one are about to end ushering in another autumn season just around the corner...it was pretty cloudy with some wind that night so i set my WB to cloudy setting to get this glowy kind of mood...have a great night friends...pls. At the bottom of the photo is a glacial-fed river. A noticeable characteristic is that it has many channels. This is known as a braided river. According to my tour guide, the cause of this phenomenon in Alaskan rivers is due to the exposed permafrost ground.

Tried out my new circular polarizer.

Filter takes a bit of getting used to and it's hard to focus due the blinding light from the Sun. Passing planes were useful for the autofocus to latch onto when using Live View.

Our "April showers" have arrived a bit late (much like everything else related to spring this year), so I'm trying to make the best of it by shooting a few portraits using the warm color and diffused light of shooting on overcast days. Our little puppy provided me my "model" for this shot.

The highest peak in Karnataka, India. Mullayanagiri is located the Baba Budan Giri Range of the Western Ghats.

Used Circular polarizer.

My friend Udhay and me climbed up the small hill next to Mullayanagiri peak and I was wishing for a subject to compose the peak. This girl poped up like an angel from nowhere and sat there. My camera was happy. (Her family followed soon after.)

- www.kevin-palmer.com - This is one of the most beautiful times of year in Wyoming. The valleys are green and the mountains are filled with colorful wildflowers. This was taken near Red Grade Road.

The ferns at Blue Hen were too hard to pass up.

The South Chagrin Reservation in northeast Ohio is a mecca for waterfalls and to think, I had never been there before this spring! It's exciting to think that I've only scratched the surface when it comes to seeing waterfalls in northeast Ohio. A few weeks back I took my daughter to see Squaw Rock Falls on the Chagrin River in South Chagrin. There's a loop trail which also passes over two very low flow streams and very close to one more. Last week after receiving 3 or 4 inches of rain in just a few hours, I immediately drove up to South Chagrin as soon as the rain stopped. I knew if I waited just a day, the flow on these streams would've been compromised. I was in awe of the amount of water flowing over these 3 waterfalls, as I had never seen 2 of them with more than a mere trickle. This waterfall isn't even listed on the Eastern Waterfall database website, so I doubt it has an official name. If you scramble up the bank a ways from the lower loop trail, you'll find a plaque embedded in a huge boulder which says, "In Loving Memory Of Our Brother PUNCHU. You Are Forever Loved". I think I'll just call this one Punchu Falls.
