Another one from the archives, this is 2-6-0 steam loco No.461 working the return leg of an RPSI Santa Special from Maynooth back into Dublin. AS you can see by the little puff of white steam from near the cab, the drive was nice enough to whistle for the photographers perched on Matt Goff Bridge.
Found a different pov of the skyline using a puddle in one of the fountains in Olive Park...the fog and clouds just added that cold and dreary feel to this cityscape...pls.View On Black

This is the B&W version of this image.
Lately I have have been after minimal images, and B&W seems to be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking "minimal" I think I like the color version a bit better, but also felt that this image was worth posting. I cropped a bit off the bottom to add to that "minimal" feel and processed accordingly for the B&W.

This beach in Wailea, right outside the restaurant, Sarento's on the Beach, was an incredible place to catch the sunset. There were so many elements of interest, including the silhouetted backdrop of West Maui.
By the way, I'd highly recommend eating at Sarento's on the Beach if you ever get the chance! The seafood and the service is incredible, and this is the sunset you'll be treated with.
i just took part in the world naked bike ride this weekend to highlight the the venerability of cyclists and oil dependancy. you can see all the photos i thave taken in this set i will be uploading more later. it dose take me a while to upload because i tag all my photos unlike some people! one thing i will say is most of the people on the ride where regular cyclists but hardly any of them had helmets very poor
I've been going up to Alaska for years now waiting for a strong sunny day and some large icebergs on Portage Lake. Yesterday was finally that day. The locals say that the ice glows better on overcast days. I respectfully disagree. The polarizer really made this one pop. The sun was at a perfect 90 degree angle.
Happy Fathers Day to all you dads out there.

went over to the lakefront this morning to grab some sunrise shots and the the soft golden tones during sun up didn't disappoint...there was no explosion of colors of any sort but the golden tones were really beautiful this morning...i scoured the length of this part of the lakefront for puddles, from Oak Street Beach to North Avenue Beach and i only found 2 and this puddle was the better of the duo...set my timer on delay and placed the camera on the ground right by this puddle and hoped for the best...more sunrise shots to come and some early morning blue hour shots from Kinzie Street Bridge as well...pls. missed a really great sunset today...i had my gear with me but could not find a good spot to pull over 'coz of all the snow and ice still along the shoulders of the roads....was contented to watch it while driving home though....i'm posting this mono conversion image that i shot last October instead by the Fox River at the McHenry Dam...it was a really beautiful day as i recall....beautiful blue skies, wispy clouds floating lazily across, the foliage was colorful reflecting ever so nicely on the very still river...except that you have to really let your imagination work while viewing this as this image is in B&W....have a great night friends....pls. Due to the various medical problems I have endured and along with computer problems, I have not been out with the camera for what seems like an age. Yesterday. Graham Vincent and I ventured over to Pontneddfecchan where we spent several hours shooting the many waterfalls there.
In my excitement to be out using the camera, I lost the lens cap and lens hood for the Sigma 10-20mm somewhere in the water. If anyone happens upon these, let me know!
Thanks for looking and feel free to leave a comment!
Polar icebreaker at Pier 27. Early morning from a small boat on San Francisco Bay.
I did very little to this shot other than straighten and crop. The colors are completely natural.
Red and gold, 49er's colors!

It's been a long winter, but a good macro lens is a nice tool to have in a long winter, however, as there are a lot of interesting things to be discovered in the micro world. The Irix 150mm 1:1 Macro features an excellent build, has good handling, great sharpness, and beautiful bokeh rendering. It is held back by a lack of autofocus and image stabilization, though if you are doing macro off of a tripod that doesn't matter as much. It is priced extremely well, however, which helps make up for what is not there. My review coverage of the new Irix 150mm F2.8 1:1 Macro lens can be seen here:

- www.kevin-palmer.com - This was a very beautiful part of the Buffalo River near Horseshoe Bend. At some places it looked like an actual river with deep, flowing water. But then at other places like here it looked like a shallow creek and I wasn't even sure it was the river.

This nice creek was behind our campsite. The polarizer really killed the reflections. Unfortunately the dappled lighting didn't really come through. My lens shutter needs servicing. 1/2s acted as 1s in this instance. I knew that going in but thought more exposure is better than too little. I bet I could've gotten away with half the exposure.

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Lookout Point is one of the most scenic views in Illinois. From the top of the bluffs you can watch trains, cars, and boats move below. In the distance is the Savanna-Sabula bridge.
