Sunset at Down's Creek in Cutchogue where it meets the Peconic Bay.
My first stop upon arrival in the White Mountains of New Hampshire was the Lily Pond, which sits alongside the Kancamagus Highway. I got there about an hour before sunset and waited while the crowds began to build. Most were there hoping to see a moose come out around dusk, but unfortunately Mr. moose never showed. But what I came for certainly did.....a glorious mountain sunset! If you do the Facebook thing, check out my Facebook photography page and give it a "Like".

Today, October 22, 2024, my wife and I headed east out of Summerside towards the Dunk River area. Like the Trout River are which we visited a couple of days earlier, Dunk River is a spectacular natural reserve which is quickly accessible from Summerside. Not only is the river pristine and surrounded by natural woodland, there is a public nature trail that parallels the river for at least 3.5 Kms. On this day, we followed the trail from its head until is ended before turning around and heading back towards its head. Despite being on the trail for a few hours, we only met one other person on the way out, and then two more on the way back. It was a nice quiet hike in nature with nothing to notice but the trickling of the stream and the occasional sounds of leaves falling or birds singing.
This particular photo was probably taken about half way in at a lovely bend in the river. The golden hues of autumn were apparent everywhere.

Saved just like a squirrel saves nuts, from October.
This time though, the nut did the saving. ;D
New leaves are appearing now on this tree and will soon begin showing up on Flickr.

In terms of abstract, I feel like this is my best attempt yet. I kind of stumbled upon this shot. I was back by the restaurant at the Seas With Nemo and Friends pavilion trying to get a monorail shot that I've been trying forever to get properly. Well, I somewhat failed at that shot as my shutter speed was slightly too slow for the monorail and it is not sharp, plus I can't get the colors and levels in the picture to satisfy me no matter what I do in post. So, I gathered up the tripod and put it away and I was off to meet the gang over in Italy for lunch. But on my way, I'm glad I glanced over to the right at the building and this shot just kind of jumped out at me. I'm actually proud (and I don't say that often because I don't personally regard pride as a good thing) that I was able to spot this and actually see the abstract image here.
I know a lot of you, namely Tom Bricker :=0), see abstract and say – hmmf, what's the point? I don't know, really, it just kind of looks cool to me.
Kiki, I'm hoping I terminated my lines properly in the frame :=0) Please let me know how I did.
As for processing, there was very little. The colors, levels and frame (no crop) are SooC. I did however do some minor clean-up on the building, but it is not enough to post the original jpeg for comparison. The deep blue of the sky is due to the circular polarizer I was using. I could have brightened it up a little, but I like the contrast it offers.
This is one of my favorites from my last trip, believe it or not, so I hope you like it!

- www.kevin-palmer.com - Lake Angeline is a beautiful alpine lake at 10,600 feet in the Bighorn Mountains. The hiking trail starts at the end of Forest Road 391. But the road was way too rough for me to drive all the way, so it turned into a 10 mile hike instead of 7 miles.

Nikon D810 with lens Zeiss Distagon 28mm f/2 ZF.2 and polarizing filter. HDR made from 3 bracketed photographs taken on Tripod. Common camera setttings were ISO 64, f/16 to get long exposure time..
It really felt like I was in the middle of the rain forest. My "Tropicalized" weatherproof D810 had too much rain on it and condensation started to build up inside my top LCD window. It morphed into 2 droplets of water underneath the glass.
The photographer was "liquified" after a 4 hour outdoor session that day under constant and heavy rain, but very happy of the photographic opportunities.
Read the thread below to learn more on the effect of using a Circular Polarizer in a rainy/cloudy day as a saturation filter in addition to using it as a ND filter to get this angel hair effect on the waterfall.
Waking up before dawn, I hoofed it up to the cathedral to grab some shots just prior to the sun coming up. A vigorous walk uphill on a chilly morning will wake one up better than a cup of coffee on any day!

199/366: Fields of Gold
Fields of gold as far as the eye can see just South of Chama New Mexico. I saw this beautiful field of golden yellow wildflowers on our way out to Colorado a few weeks ago and had to stop to capture the beauty before my eyes. As far as the eye could see the fields were covered in golden wildflowers, you can see the dynamic size of the landscape by locating the farm houses towards to horizon of the photograph. The mountains start to fill in a bit towards to background and the sky was a brilliant blue with scattered white puffy clouds to add depth and dimension to the photograph. If you close your eyes you can almost feel the wind in your face and the floral smell of the golden wildflowers.
The photo was taken with my Nikon D810 and my Lee Filters Circular Polarizer at 14mm.

one of the coolest places to view the city is up the Jonh Hancock Building's observatory deck...this is the scene you see looking out towards the southern part of Chicago...you see the Trump Tower and the Willis Tower rising way above all the other skyscrapers...when you get into Chicago, don't forget to swing by the John Hancock Obsevatory Deck to enjoy views of the city from way high up...pls
- www.kevin-palmer.com - This is where Ansel Adams took one of his most famous shots. But you can no longer see very much of the Snake River from here because of tree growth.
On the one hand, a shot of a Common Blue (a male in this case) on a grass seed head is a total cliché, but, on the other, I don't think that's a good enough reason not to post my instance of this cliché. I really like how the light, colour, and DOF came out for me here, so I think the shot is worth sharing even if shots like this are a dime a dozen!
Highway 560, North Shore, Kauai
Located literally at the end of the road, Ke'e Beach is probably the most visited beach on Kauai. The famed Kalalau Trail begins at the western end of the beach. Several movies and min-series have been filmed here such as The Thorn Birds and Castaway Cowboys. Ke'e's inviting lagoon is teaming with fish and perfect for snokeling. Beware, however of the Puka Ulua, an opening on he left side from the lagoon to the sea. Currents can be very strong here. People often fish for the large, prized Ulua fish in this area. A short walk towards Ha'ena provides a panoramic view of the Na Pali Coast. Keep walking toward the Limahuli Stream. This is where Taylor Camp was located - the largest, most noted hippie colony on Kauai. Founded by the brother of actress Elizabeth Taylor, this colony had up to 100 residents before the state condemned the land and evicted them. In the opposite direction, walk down the path above the reef channel along a low rock wall. Look uphill to the site of Ka Ulu a Paoa Heiau. This ancient religious site was dedicated to Paoa, a friend of the legnedary Lohiau, lover of Pele, the volcano goddess. A shrine to Laka, goddess of the hula, is also located in a hillside cleft behind the heiau platform.

this from my recent quickie trip back to my hometown in the Philippines last month...didn't get to do much shooting as we went home for personal family matters but on this day, we went out to the local outdoor market in our town to buy some fresh fruits that we haven't eaten in a long time...fruits that we don't find here in the U.S. We found a local farmer that was selling some of his produce for cheap so we ended up buying lots of fruits from him...anyway, this photo shows a busy street in Toril with what we call Tricycles or Pedicabs which is a mode of public transportation back home...these things are slow, loud but cheap and i love riding in these tricycles...pls View On White

I wasn't going to post this one because I'm not sure i like it as a whole. Those darks are kinda dark for my tastes. But I just love those oranges and blues, like the previous sunset shot from earlier today. So here it is.
After buying a new car a month ago, I thought it time to take a one-day road trip - 15 hours in total. I headed around the southern bend of Lake Michigan and followed the coast of the lake up some 300 miles into Michigan. The Blue Star Highway was absolutely gorgeous to drive. Here are my favorite pics of the day.
