Cigarbox Man tocando en Club Amanda para el lanzamiento de su single People from Everywhere, 20.07.18
On the most portentous of nights, I take this battered cigar box out bring it to a family of friends. There, its contents, packed all year in purifying salt, are laid out. Rituals are performed and oaths are renewed. The contents are packed up, the box returns to its shelf, and General Knox looks down on me till the next portentous day.
The contents of the box? Pardon me for being oblique, but all I will say is that this old cigar box, that I do not remember buying, has much in common with Pandora's similar container.

This was hard to photograph and get the details. The cigar box is in the center attached to the rest of the structure. Other photos show the inside of the box. The cigar brand is "Sun Grown" (original label on the inside covered in clear glass) so this piece reflects the sun part, the red door into the sun area and the inside is a sunny day with 3D plants and hanging glass. 30" tall. I used glass, driftwood, slate, marble, shells, screw, wire, beads, pebbles, nails.

"Roots" musician, Justin Johnson, entertained the crowd with his musicianship on the opening night following area bluesman "Microwave Dave" Gallaher at the 10th annual Cigarbox Guitar Festival, Friday 30 May 2014, at Lowe Mill Village Arts Center, #Huntsville, #Alabama.
The festival continues through Saturday.
Work in progress! I need to add more details. It is made on the back of a cigar box, prepped with layer and layers of gesso.
I was invited to participate in illustrating a deck of cards, along with other 51 artists. I was given the 10 of diamonds. When I think of the word diamonds I always think in the diamond Chair by Harry Bertoia. And of course, the regular diamonds too. I did a little research of all the different cuts, and they are oh so pretty...

A passion for boxes,
I collect and reconstuct boxes. Some are gifts, others I find in charity shops and carboot sales.I put legs under and funny stuff on top. All boxes can be opened and are very good for keeping good thoughts and nice dreams. "HIGH IN THE SKY" is made from a small cigar-box.

TE LAND EN TER ZEE // BY LAND AND BY SEA

My new 3 string slider, Cigarbox Guitar made from a cedar cigarbox, oak neck, mahogany trim on head, purpleheart nut and bridge. Hinge for tailpiece (also ground for strings) single mag pup. I might burn in fret markers yet. The only pieces purchased were the machine heads and oak pieces. Everything else is scrounged (even the strings....LOL), my total cash outlay is 9 bucks.....God I love this stuff!!!!!

I plan on altering this cigar box in a Tim Holtz inspired style. I'm so excited! I've actually never altered anything like this. I will definitely be photographing the process to share with all of you!
I plan on using this for my Stickles, small bottles of black and white glossy accents, Liquid Pearls and Crackle Paint. It's the perfect storage for these items!
4x5 expired ilford ortho film shot in my cigar box pinhole camera. appx. 1 minute exposure. developed in dektol. developed contact print in dektol with nova monochrome tank.
not a perfect print. it was more of a test print for the camera. but i like it.
The more I think about the steel strings I plan on using, the more it seems like I should add some bracing to the cigar box lid even if it is much thicker than a typical guitar or uke top. I don't have any magical, mystical wood for tone bars, so some 1/4" birch plywood I have kicking around will probably be employed. That top piece is a popsicle stick.
(It is just a cigar box, after all.)
