I tried to make this seem like it had been used 100 years ago. It has a slight gold sheen which you can't see in the photo. Making the little porcelain looking flowers got habit forming and I have a dozen left to use on some other project.

At least that's what I think it is? Not marked. Done in wonderful old spongeware flower design. Found over the summer...
I used a Stroppel cane for a background, leaving the rough edged to contrast with the shiny, smooth leaves. The little plaque reads, 'Each day provides its own gifts.' Inside are all the items she'll need to stamp her own notecards. I even cut the stamps for her.
A walkabout dulcimer built by Ron "Blind Doughboy" Marr. 4 strings, tuned like a dulcimer. Has internal piezo pickup.
Marr is known for his outlandish headstock designs such as the arch on this model.

This is the cigar box in transition. This is in the middle of adding flashing tape. I also had to remove the front hardware, but not the hardware in the back.
I plan on altering this cigar box in a Tim Holtz inspired style. I'm so excited! I've actually never altered anything like this. I will definitely be photographing the process to share with all of you!
I plan on using this for my Stickles, small bottles of black and white glossy accents, Liquid Pearls and Crackle Paint. It's the perfect storage for these items!
When I was in grade school and invited to a birthday party, I would go to our cousin’s country grocery store and get a cigar box and fill it with candy. It cost next to nothing comparatively and every recipient liked it. When I turned 50, my friend Teresa reciprocated with this Tampa Nugget box. ANSH Round 142

Not taken in New Orleans but I was looking up the product and it seems quite a few people have fond holiday memories of Bublets so I thought I'd share...if anyone can narrow down the date of the package, I'd love to know.
A couple mint tins found at an estate sale in Alameda, California. Both containing mints from who-knows-when. I'm guessing the 1950s?

I tried to make this box seem like it was used 100 years ago. The flowers look like delicate porcelain, they remind me of ones my grandmother had on her windowsill. The inside looks like old wallpaper. This is still missing the latch.
Changed the grommet with a brass washer and a brass circle from a door lock replacement kit. Hopefully this one is thin enough so it doesn't show in the pics!
today's sweet flea market find. just in time to make another cam for my first World Pinhole Day. (and i finally dug out some photo paper so i's can try out Mr. Photato Head as well!)
Made with the insides of a karaoke machine. It sounds pretty good, except for a slight buzzing that goes away if you touch the ipod. Maybe a grounding issue?
The inspiration for this came from www.bellyjellymusic.com. If your intrested in making these, he's a great teacher.
This is a 5 string. I carved the head of the guitar to look similar to a tele, which is my favorite headstock. To make it electric, I glued a piezo pickup inside the cigar box, and soldered it to the input jack of an old blown-out amp. The neck was made with a file and sandpaper.
It sounds pretty good. I tuned it to EADGB. It's the first one I've made that feels solid and stays and plays chords in-tune.

Cigar Box Speakers.
I found this Goya Cigar Box in a free pile in my building lobby, I thought it would turn into a Cigar Box Guitar, but I found a pair of computer speakers in a free box, and decided to make them sound and look a little better, the speaker grills are Ball type jar lids. Now that wireless speakers are saturating the market, there a lots of these old computer speakers headed for the land fill, lets give them a little more life.
