A dear friend painted this cigar box with an image of me and Sullivan for my birthday. They even included my Olympus camera that I always carry with me. Such a special friend.
a very simple (yet amazing sounding) diddley bow by WM Daily of West Virginia. Features a very figured woodgrain oak and uses an Altoids tin as resonator/bridge.
The Altoids tin hides a small piezo pickup inside, thus making the instrument electrified!

Dit doosje (b.20 x l.15 x h. 14 cm) kan te kijk staan als kunstwerkje en gebruikt worden voor mooie gedachten, wensen of sieraden, knopen, sleutels en andere dingen die je niet graag kwijt wilt raken.

I collect and reconstuct boxes. I find them in charity shops and carboot sales, or get them from cigarsmokers.I put legs under I paint the box, inside and outside.
This box (20 x 15 x h 14 cm) can be used as a little hand created piece of art to sit on a desk or dresser or as a special place to keep jewelry, stamps, paper clips, buttons, barrettes, keys, medication, change or lovely dreams and good wishes.

I've been having so much fun with my little cigar box fairy house project. It's almost finished! I just lack some mossy bits and fairy dust :).
The house features a LED wall light which is removable for battery replacement. Plus, a hand-made wooden floor (what was I thinkin'?).

A Tableau of the Crop and Assorted Implements
One does not usually think of Connecticut when considering states that produce tobacco, that honor lies with Virginia and farther South and West; but Connecticut farms have grown the crop used primarily for cigar wrappers for centuries. While the Windsor area was most prolific, farms in towns around the state also produced tobacco.
Here we see, next to the thermometer advertising 'Tru Ade' soft drink, tobacco hung for drying. Tobacco is traditionally dried in specially built barns with slat-like openings for ventilation. Once the tobacco is nearly dry, the barns are heated to 'cure' the product. Below area line of cigar boxes and tobacco tins, and a machine labeled,

The device in the center foreground is a combination radio receiver and record player: a two-in-one or "Twonky." The wheeled cart is a portable tank probably used for fertilizer or pesticides.
1970s Grundig radio, hacked to convert it to a guitar amplifier. Dimensions (in cm. excluding handle) L38 x H21 x D10. Has a tone control and will run on 6 x D type cells or 240v mains. Pretty loud and distorts when cranked full. Bit battered and scratched, smojo rat artwork sprayed onto it. Nice punky amp. See video of it on Cigarbox Nation
I'm working on a series of wee fairy houses within vintage wooden cigar boxes. I found this teddy bear furniture at Hobby Lobby recently and plan to distress, stain, size and fairyize it to fit nicely within the boxes. :)
Made to be auctioned to raise money for the Sevenoaks School charity aiming to build an educational facility in Southern Africa.

Shutter assembly for the "Royal Jamaica" cigarbox pinhole camera. Build with model aircraft plywood.
A bit of fun and a bit of recycling. Having planned to build a banjo around an Arnott's biscuit tin, I thought "I can't play banjo, why not make a biscuit tin guitar?" Here's the result.
Built by Joe Mazel. A very traditional cigar box banjo featuring re-claimed oak for the neck.
Although this instrument is owned by Shane Speal, it was used by wyrd folk legend, Timothy Renner for his album "Primitive Recordings."
