"Chevron", large scale sculpture installation
Lake Shore, Chicago
The sculpture was formally installed on a patch of Lincoln Park near the lake as part of Chicago Sculpture Exhibit's 2015 project.
The sculpture, by John Henry, previously resided behind a brick wall in a yard at the corner of Armitage and Burling Street in Lincoln Park.

These Parakeets fly in small flocks making such a racket that you know when they are close by. I was able to get some shots of them perched in the tree, but wanted a flight shot. Waiting with my camera at my eye and hoping that he would fly before my arms gave out, I got lucky.

HAUT Amsterdam is, with 21 floors so far the tallest wooden residential tower in the world.
"Hout" is Dutch for "wood", "haute" is French for "high".
Architects: Team V Architecture.
Aan de Amsterdamse Amstel verrijst HAUT, met 21 verdiepingen tot nog toe de hoogste houten woontoren ter wereld.
In de hout-hybride woontoren worden circa 55 appartementen van verschillende afmetingen gerealiseerd.
In de woontoren is ruim drie miljoen kilo CO2 opgeslagen. Naast de innovatieve houtconstructie wordt het gebouw voorzien van energie-opwekkende gevels en wordt het afvalwater opgevangen en gezuiverd (architectuur.nl).

Union Pacific GP38N No. 578 and GP38-2 No. 724 make a seven-car set out at CP Becks in Salt Lake City, Utah on July 17, 2023. UP 578 was built Southern Pacific GP38-2 No. 4815 in May 1980. The vintage GRS "searchlight" signals stand tall in spite of their age, installed when this was Rio Grande's Salt Lake City - Ogden, Subdivision 7 main line.
Le logo de cette célèbre marque est la représentation d’un engrenage à chevrons, un type d’engrenage qui a marqué les premiers pas de cette compagnie française dont les origines remontent au tout début du 20e siècle.
Lorsque sa première voiture est apparue sur le marché en 1919, André Citroën a bien entendu choisi le double chevron comme logo de l’entreprise. Deux d’entre eux, pour représenter les engrenages à chevrons qu’il utilisait notamment dans les boîtes de vitesses de ses voitures.

A court in Ecuador has found Chevron guilty of massive environmental pollution and human rights violations in the Amazon, and has ordered the company to pay $8 billion to clean it up. But Chevron has vowed to appeal the decision, and clearly plans to stall indefinitely, hoping never to pay its due. So the Change Chevron team got together with our friends and allies at Amazon Watch, Greenpeace, Global Exchange, and Communities for a Better Environment (of Richmond, CA) headed down to Chevron’s HQ in San Ramon, CA, and delivered a message to the company: Chevron was found guilty because the company is guilty. Time to accept responsibility and clean up the oily mess in Ecuador!
