Lineas was in 2019 active with the transport of lime from the quarry in Yves Gomezée (B), this quarry is owned by the chemical group Solvay. The lime is transported by train to the yard near Millingen (Rheinberg) in Germany. Close by is Solvay's soda factory, where the lime is transported by Solvay itself.

The transport from Yves Gomezée (B) to Millingen (D) was carried out by Diesel locomotives : from Belgium via Visé and Maastricht to Sittard and over the Maas line to Venlo and from there into Germany to Millingen.

Lineas uses its Diesel locomotives HLD 77 (Siemens-Vossloh) for this job - because of the location of the cabin, driving is on the left in Belgium, in the Netherlands they must drive with the long hood facing each other so that the driver has a good view of the signals.

Lineas Dlocs 7869 + 7786 haul a long train of empty Ermewa Falns past Geleen-Lutterade station on their way to Maastricht and on to Yves Gomezée (B) servicing train 47534.

A short wait and friendly folks..

Captured for We're Here group's visit to Lockdown in My Town.

Sandhil Cranes fly out of one of there overnight ponds, that they use to avoid predators. They will spend the day in the surrounding fields foraging for food. Contrary to what I thought, New Mexico was very very cold over night and in the early mornings. The water had frozen around some of the cranes legs.

The right side is a mirror. I knew that, so i took the shot in a way the mirror would look nice. At least that's what i thought when i stood there with my cam. In the original image there is an ugly wall on the right side.

It was so long since I was out shooting and when i saw the first rays I "ran" to East Lothian. Not a great sunset after all but better than nothing :)

Two baby hummingbirds contemplating the big move to "out there".

This apparatus was a curious find east of North Platte, NE on the Union Pacific Railroad. I caught this empty ethanol train returning from Norfolk Southern and running through this complex multi-camera system just east of town. As best I can tell, this is a Beena Vision TrainView train inspection system. The next-generation system is able to take high-resolution images of the entire outside of the train. From their website:

"The system uses several sensors and algorithms to pinpoint axle position, car beginning and car end positions, car components such as safety appliances, ladders and handholds, hopper door and their handles, brake hose, truck components such as side frame, springs, and car components such as brake, etc."

The scanner is able to pick up on defective car parts or foreign objects and let the railroad know about them quicker.
