A random link failed. Perhaps it was weak from the string-in-the-rear-wheel incident, who knows. The string in the rear wheel meant I was going to have to have the rear derailleur rebuilt. Now it will have to be replaced.
This was one of the (many) mountain lakes we encountered on our way into Wyoming and Yellowstone park. I'm not exactly sure, but I believe this one is called Chain Lake.

One of a small collection of images taken last weekend at Stanmer Park, near Brighton. This is a stack of 2 copies of the same RAW file one darkened to bring up the shadows, the other lightened to bring up the lock and chain. The two copies were layered together (lighter copy on top) and selectively erased to reveal the shadows.
This well-known Moortown pub has been shut for a few months now, since around May 2007. For the last couple of years it was just The Bull, previously The Chained Bull, Harrogate Road, Leeds
It was knocked down on June 9 2008 to make way for expansion of the Marks and Spencers store next to it.

The Chain Link Arches were a public art installation beneath Brunel's impressive viaduct across the River Rhondda in Pontypridd in 2010. Consisting of coloured floodlights that lit up the underside of the arches as dusk turned to night, they made a somewhat eerie sight.
Although I can't find any reference to it online, and unfortunately RCT's own website doesn't leave old news articles published (grrrr), I've a memory of reading that this was conceived along with Unity to help promote Pontypridd. I must be mistaken on that part, because the Chain Link Arches have so few hits on Google that it is as if no-one knew it was there :(
Unfortunately, I've been unable to find out anything more about this piece of art. If you know who the artist was, when it was first installed, and when it was finally removed, I'd love to hear from you in the comments below!

The monastery of Saint George (Al-Banat) is situated in the Coptic Quarter of Old Cairo. It is said that the structure's foundation dates back to the 7th century CE. The nunnery is home to 40 nuns that take care of two little but beautiful gardens. This icon decorates the entrance to the Chapel of Saint George, said to be located where the prison cell in which Saint George was imprisoned and tortured by the Roman Army. Stories and icons of Saint George are all over the chapel as well as prayers for Saint George to help the faithful. An interesting detail ofthe monastery is a chain believed to be the chain by which Saint George was cuffed and beaten in the third century CE. The faithful, often followers of numerous Christian denominations as well as Muslims, flock to the Chapel of the Chain for its healing powers and its perceived abiulity to aid the faithful in spiritual struggles.
Saw this little bike chained to a lamp post at the bus stop on my way to work this morning. Didn't realize these were in such danger of being stolen. :)
