Toby has a lot to learn about Catching Cookies.
But if you push the Clarity slider ALL the way to the right, even a mediocre Catching Cookies shot springs to life - if only because it highlights those wonderful whiskers.
Note: I've seen this in all three dogs I've photographed this way - as the Cookie gets closer the dogs pull their whiskers forward as if to help with the catch.
Does it actually help?
Well, Zachary would catch anything even remotely in his vicinity. He made me, as tosser, look good.
Henry struggles even if I practically drop it in his mouth, and Toby is somewhere in the middle.

Catching The Light
Another image from my wander around Cliburn Moss nature reserve near Penrith.
I have always struggled to make sense of these types of locations, trying to work out relationships between the various trees so that I can understand a bit more the best way to photograph the scene.
I actually feel quite happy with this one, be interesting to know what you think.
A very interesting place that could make for some nice images as the seasons change.

This was taken down a road into our local park. I was driving around during a wet evening and this road looked like it had potential, because it lined up with the brighter point in the sky. So I stopped in the middle of the road and jumped out with my wide lens for a quick few shots at different apertures. This is a final combined image, which I needed to do in order to capture the full dynamic range. I find that some photos take a few minutes to edit, while others can take a lot longer.
Thanks for looking and I appreciate the kind comments.

A lone fisherman chances his arm before sunrise on a cool morning on QLD's sunshine Coast.
During the 30 second exposure the fisherman stayed almost completly still. Not sure if he was aware I was taking his photo or not, but it worked out well!

A brief window of sunlight catches former CEGB Robert Stephenson and Hawthornes 0-4-0ST "Eustace Forth" as it heads a Peak Rail service from Rowsley.
No it isn't a real flying fish. This Caspian Tern had caught a catfish but was having difficulty holding it. So it tossed the fish into the air so it could get a better grip. But I pressed the shutter when it looked like the tern was catching a leaping fish in mid-air.
Caspian Tern has a very wide world distribution but it is very patchily distributed within its range. It prefers to fish in freshwater lakes and has big concentrations around America's Great Lakes, plus the Black and Caspian Seas in Asia (hence the name Caspian). But it will also fish in saltwater. It is quite a rare breeder in Europe, mainly around the Baltic Sea. It is also the largest tern on the planet with a wingspan of 130-145cm and weighing 530-780g. Its large size and red bill are distinguishing features although this one's bil seems to have faded to orange, making it look a bit like a Royal Tern. It was with five other Caspian Terns at Iona Beach close to Vancouver Airport. This one's a young bird, hatched this summer but already moulted into its first winter plumage. The tail band identifies it as a young bird.
EMD 9019 hustles an eastbound M-MINSUP (Minot, NP - Superior, WI) out the Grand Forks Sub through Fisher, MN.
This was a nice surprise. I was reviewing my notes for this particular day, and it looked like I had the morning off and had to work late into the night. Even sweeter than having a perfect weekday morning off was catching an Oakway this late into its life with a near-pristine GM nose herald. I certainly didn't catch many with the nose herald. And speaking of not catching many, I never got a lot of shots of the M-MINSUP despite having many opportunities at its westbound counterpart.
Otter sunning on the shore of Yellowstone Lake in Yellowstone National Park. He was one of a family of four. They are so much fun to watch!
Although the sun was beginning to break through after a cloudy start, I was lucky to catch this in full bling as after a lengthy clear spell the light died seconds later

I was doing head shots of this guy folks when he made a stab at something we could see moving in the pond.
I do not know the procedure for posting 2 so will follow up with the second in this series later tonight, sorry just to stupid.
Thanks as always for visiting and it is so very much appreciated.
