Flower is catching first light

On a little walk after some rain the way the light shone on this leaf caught my eye.

Its raining again here and quite windy too!

This photo were taken back in March 2012. I am just catching up with them. I had started to put up our trip to Northland but for some reason never got them all up.

We took a ferry trip over to Waiheke Island for the day. Sadly It rained most of the time and tourist bus had stopped running the for the Winter months the day before. We walk to a winery for lunch. In the afternoon we took the local bus for a short trip around the island.

Cable Bay Vineyard hand-craft wines from the highest quality fruit, grown in small batch vineyards in two locations within New Zealand – Waiheke Island and Marlborough. The first vineyard was planted in 1998 on Waiheke Island.

Waiheke Island is the second-largest island (after Great Barrier Island) in the Hauraki Gulf of New Zealand. Its ferry terminal in Matiatia Bay at the western end is 21.5 km (13.4 mi) from the central-city terminal in Auckland.

It is the most populated island in the gulf, with 9,390 permanent residents. Another estimated 3,400 have second homes or holiday homes on the island. It is New Zealand's most densely populated island, and the third most populated after the North and South Islands. It is the most accessible island in the gulf, with regular passenger and car-ferry services, a helicopter operator based on the island, and other air links.

1st place

One more from a recent trip down in Dorset after an amazing first day with beautiful golden light thought I ll get up for sunrise. Unfortunately, the weather had a different opinion so I made the executive decision to have a full English breakfast instead in hope that the weather will get better! The forecast predicted rain for 11:00 but I thought oh what do they know and headed down to this beautiful rock formation called Pulpit Rock at Portland Bill. There wasn't much light but the clouds were moving nicely and the waves breaking on the rocks created a moody atmosphere. After three attempts and finally finding some shelter against the elements and the huge amounts of spray next to a rock I managed to get a couple of shots and this is one of them. Needless to say that at 11:00 exactly rain came down pouring...

Thanks for looking at my image and as always thanks to S-Ly for the great company.

Buck is taking a little rest after a hike in the park.

The water was so clear this morning off the bridge at Peace Valley that it was easy to watch this horned grebe diving and poking around for fish.

This is supposedly a double rainbows. The other one is bit dull but you still be able to see it if you look clearly behind the tree.

Happy Solstice to all my flicker friends

I skated at the rink for awhile then nodded off listening to their lovey dovey couple's skate music. Lame!

Nice Catch. Osprey with a large carp at John Heinz NWR.

I watched at least two ospreys fishing successfully and catching several carp at John Heinz NWR

Quick shoot at sunset around the railway walk last week. It seems to be an underrated location for snapping but provides nice shots with the lower sun. Really happy with a bit of bokeh too which I've never really got before.

Would be grateful if any plant enthusiasts could tell me the flower's name.

Bit of moody Black and White, taken in a beautiful forest of tall timbers. Light was streaming through the trees, and as you watched the sun hit the tree trunks the steam would slowly appear. A magical place, just waiting for the little elves and fairies to pop out!

I bought Chloe her first boogie board and we tried it out for the 1st time this past weekend.

She really got into riding the little waves near the shoreline.

LOL! I told her to keep her mouth closed so she wouldn't end up swallowing a mouthful of saltwater, but neglected to tell her to keep her eyes open so she could see where she was going!

We'll work on that!

tonight was all about catching this sunset over water

The lake is mostly frozen but a large section is open water. It's a wonderful opportunity to photograph the waterfowl up close. I watched this beautiful Hooded Merganser eat this crayfish. A pleasant day by the lake :)

Big Lily, Catching the morning mist.

A snowy day, and you can just see the snowflake shatter as it is hit by the bird's wing
