The red-capped cardinal (Paroaria gularis) is a small South American bird. It belongs to Paroaria, a genus of red-headed cardinal-tanagers. This one lives in the aviary at the OKC Zoo. Taken through a wire mesh.

Curler caps , bonnets etc in the 60s and 70s were intended to both look nice as well as secure and protect a hairdo or a rollerset. Some of the descriptions even mention thinks like fashionable or pretty and they were. A pretty woman wearing nicely set curlers and a curler cap can be absolutely beautiful!
