Last weekend, we decided to go check out the Thatcher Woods Forest Preserve of Cook County, which is almost exactly one mile west of the Oak Park village line on Chicago Avenue. We stopped first at a large clearing where people have picnics and were greeted by this very Illinois sign telling us the clearing's maximum seating capacity. I guess there are forest fire codes or something, though I don't know who regulates this. I don't know if you pull into the parking lot with your picnic lunch on a pretty day in June and have some fire marshal or a bouncer with a velvet rope turn you away.
Some time last year, I got one of my album ideas in my head to make a bunch of albums for city parks and forest preserves and such, but I never got around to following through with that. That's a lot of photos to go through, and I'd wind up having hundreds of albums with one picture each. So there will be no Thatcher Woods album.

Project Director Dr. Anjal Prakash and Mr. Rajamohan from MARI (Modern Architects for Rural India) taking a session in the workshop.
After work, I hung out with James. We had sushi for dinner at Ichima (Rosemead and Foothill), then went to No Future Cafe for some bands I thought would put on a good show.
Well, arriving around 8:15pm (late, I know), the place was packed. The line was super long, and we didn't get in because they were at maximum capacity.
After the first band played, and the second one was midway through their set, we left.
There was a group of girls waiting there that drove all the way from Redlands. (Approximately how far is that?) They didn't get in. I felt bad for them.
That was a first for NFC (at least for me).
