In China, the actual rock wool production line production time of rock wool production enterprises is quite different due to the climate difference between the south and the north and the change of market demand between the south and the north. The actual working time of rock wool production line in southern manufacturers can reach 6500-7000 hours / year, while that in northern manufacturers is less than 6000 hours every year.

 

The production capacity of rock wool production line is measured by the output of finished products.

 

Ⅰ. The Rock wool production line productivity calculation method is as follows.

 

Take the annual working time of 6000-6500 hours as an example, the product is rock wool, in line with the national Exterior Insulation standard.

Soil degradation is a prominent issue in agriculture, which is when the soil loses its productive capacity (www.thegef.org/what-we-do/topics/land-degradation). Degradation of agricultural land can occur when the land is left bare for when crops are out of season. Leaving soil bare makes it prone to compaction and erosion, which work together to decrease soil productivity and destroy the soil’s ecosystem. The issue of land degradation is one not only concerning the environment, but social and economic sectors as well (WWF). It can contribute to a loss of biodiversity and habitat as well as alter the water cycle by polluting waterways and increasing flooding.

This image shows cover crops on a farm in Southern Pennsylvania in a field of corn. The addition of cover crops greatly contributes to the prevention of land degradation in agriculture. They have the ability to promote carbon storage in soil along with nutrient retention. Cover crops also contribute to enhancing soil structure and water infiltration, reducing runoff and erosion that can come with land degradation. Along with environmental benefits, farmers get agricultural benefits as well. For example, cover crops can reduce the presence of weeds and therefore reduce the herbicide use on fields and are able to save money. This can happen by the cover crops physically crowding out weeds or blocking sunlight that weeds would need to grow. Also, depending on the cover crop chosen, it can add nitrogen to the soil which reduces fertilizer use (www.sare.org/publications/managing-cover-crops-profitably...).

This image correlates with SDG #15, which aims to “protect, restore, and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, […] and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss” (SDGS 2022). The use of cover crops addresses both of these statements as it encourages ecosystem restoration and more sustainable use of agricultural land.

 

09-13 December 2019 - our Capacity Building Domain team facilitated a 5-days training on Micro Enterprise Development (MED) for all team members of project 'Integrated Model of Sustainable Henna Cultivation' implemented by AT-GRASSROOTS SOCIETY (ATG) and Arpan Seva Sansthan in Dhakdi village, Sojat block, Pali district, Rajasthan. The project is supported by L’Oreal and has received grant from ASK.

 

The main objective of this intensive training was to build capacities of project teams on the concept of micro enterprise, to conduct market assessment, select enterprise and entrepreneur, develop of Business Development Plan (BDP) for the farm working in the intervention village.
