The half day conference examined radical and progressive proposals to protect the rights of those with Mental Health and Mental Capacity issues, when making personal healthcare, finance or legal decisions. Organised by Chambré PA in association with Disability Action, the event took place in the MAC, Belfast and discussed the development of the Northern Ireland Mental Capacity (Health, Welfare, and Finance) Bill. The conference, which was chaired by Seamus McKee, BBC Radio Ulster also heard from a number of experts Kevin Doherty, Director of Services, Disability Action, Pat McConville, Mental Health Legislation Unit – DHSSPS, Professor Roy McClelland, former Chair of the Bamford Review, Dr Colin Harper, Manager, Disability Action’s Centre on Human Rights, Pat McConville , DHSSPS, Professor Roy McClelland. Dr Colin Harper, Disability Action, the first morning session. After a short coffee break the conference also heard from Tom Haire, Head of Criminal Law Branch - Department of Justice, Dr Frederick Browne, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Bill Halliday, Chief Executive, MindWise NV and Clare Irvine, Principal Legal Officer NI Law Commission. With a panel discussion and questions from the floor to Tom Haire, DOJ, Bill Halliday, Mindwise, Dr Frederick Browne, Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist, Clare Irvine, Law Commission.

Longueuil metro station has at least 2 banks of ten payphones like this. Only a few years ago, there probably were that many people who would need them to phone home during a transport emergency. In the last two weeks I haven't seen a single one in use.

IFLA's Building Strong Library Associations programme held its Africa convening in Kumasi Ghana 10-14 February 2014. The meeting included representatives from 16 associations, and regional associations AfLIA and AHILA, and core trainers from the region, and was organised in partnership with KNUST Library, Ghana Library Association, and AfLIA.

(Pictured Above) Computer Skills Training Program for National Electric Power Regulatory Authority: As part of the USAID Power Distribution Program’s Organizational Assessment and Restructuring initiative for the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), a three-day training session was conducted where participants were taught advanced computer skills, designed to enhance employee proficiency in Outlook and Excel. Through this intensive training program, participants are instructed on the advanced functions of both software, which in turn will improve their competency and capacity from intermediary to advanced level.

IFLA's Building Strong Library Associations programme held its Latin America and Caribbean convening from 24-27 March 2014 in São Paulo, Brazil. The meeting included representatives from IFLA LAC, IFLA Governing Board and FESABID. 8 associations participated in the convening, including FEBAB (Brazil) which acts as a national and umbrella association in the country. In addition to the association representatives, trainers came from Peru, Mexico, Brazil, Uruguay, and Argentina.
