A backpacking trip to Anderson Lake in the Noisy-Diobsud wilderness area east of Mt. Baker with my daughter resulted in her desire for a nap. Beautiful area.

Another image from a recent visit to the RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve taken during the golden hour before sunset. A lone young Oak tree growing on the embankment that follows the edge of this path, beyond is the ridge of the Tarennau with the main hills on the right, Tarren Hendre 634m and Tarren y Gesail 667m with a light cap of snow.

It was huge, but unfortunately something seems to have ripped its wings.

Bear Lodge (there are variations) is a Native American name for Devils Tower. Of the legends that surround this site, many involve a giant bear clawing at the sides resulting in its appearance. Arching over the monument is the Big Dipper, part of the constellation Ursa Major - the Great Bear.
