… words cannot describe the feeling I got on coming face to face with the famed Torres, the highlight of a 4 day trek through Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. Magnificent and awe-inspiring, it was all I had imagined and more … Happy New Year folks!
I cannot take any of the credit for the composition of this image. The Thistle seeds were wafted by the breeze and then captured in flight by a Small Scabious flowerhead to form natures very own artistic composition. I've just removed the background!
Sheep are herd animals. They stand against each other because that is the safest way. Their head down is just a relaxed attitude. Usually a few are alert. A tree provides a little bit of shelter and security, at least one spot from which danger cannot come. (Google)
You cannot learn in a vacuum. The whole history of photography is a free and open treasure trove of inspiration. It would be masochistic to deny its riches and usefulness :-)

Monarch butterflies cannot bite, and drink through a long tongue called a proboscis that works like an eyedropper drawing up nectar. Like a retractable garden hose, its tongue coils up under its lower lip when not in use. Once the Monarch butterfly is hatched, it only lives for approximately 2–6 weeks.

I cannot recommend the full-day Denali bus tour enough. There is only one road in Denali National Park. There are no privately owned vehicles allowed past the 15 mile point, and the park operates two bus tours that go further. On our bus tour - the Kantishna Experience - we were able to see several grizzlies. At least 8 of which were no more than 50 yards away.
It rained all day, which made viewing Denali all-but impossible, but seeing all of this wildlife was more than worth the trip. This yearling was with a sibling and their mama foraging for berries. By mid-August, these bears can think of nothing else. They need to gain weight in advance of the winter months when they will be hibernating. They were not disturbed by the diesel bus or the shutters clicking away near by...but this guy did seem to be having enough of the cold rain.
Congrats on Explore!

I cannot always ‘Thank’ everyone individually, for their Visits and ‘Faves’ however, I will always try to respond and thank all those that leave a ‘Comment’. If I do not reply to your 'Comment', it is not because I am ignoring you, it's because I have not seen the 'Comment'.

I am back but cannot promise new photos any time soon. Instead, here is a very, very old photo.
Morlaix is a small town in Brittany. It's claim to fame is a railroad viaduct, a feat of XIX c. engineering. But this is not it. It is old stairs with a gutter in the middle on Rue des Vieilles Murailles that leads from the charming old center up the hill where the castle once stood.
“It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt,
It lies behind stars and under hills,
And empty holes it fills,
It comes first and follows after,
Ends life, kills laughter.”

I cannot believe its over a decade since I visited Fountains Abbey in North Yorkshire given its relatively close by to me . Mind you in Yorkshire we are spoilt for choice if you want to visit historic monasteries as well as Fountains there are other historic abbeys at Jervaulx, Bolton, Whitby, Rievaulx, Kirkham and Byland all well worth a visit.
Fountains abbey sits on the banks of the River Skell in North Yorkshire. It is one of the largest and best preserved ruined Cistercian monasteries in England. Founded in 1132, the abbey operated for 407 years, becoming one of the wealthiest monasteries in England until its dissolution, by order of Henry VIII, in 1539.
The medieval architecture is superb, including a surviving 168 ft. tower. It is regarded as one of the finest monastic sites in Europe and is classed as a World Heritage site.
The shot looks onto the West door of the Nave with a view of the tower

We cannot pluck a flower without disturbing a star.” ..... Whatever the mood or the circumstance, the essence of its quality may linger in the silence that follows.
The wonders of Mother's Nature and it's pure beauty to shine out its love; which is all around us to see from the elegance, that can be achieved when all that is superfluous has been discarded and the human being discovers simplicity and concentration: the simpler and soberer the posture, the more beautiful it will be.
This sweet flower is known to be Ohio Spiderwort(Widows Tears/Bluejacket) and I just loved the way it popped out its gorgeous colour of dazzling purplish-blue, and its cool yellow tears to me here!
Many thanks to you here, for your cool comments and compliments, my cool flickr friends !!!

This is my winter song to you
The storm is coming soon
It rolls in from the sea
My voice, a beacon in the night
My words will be your light
To carry you to me
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love
They say that things just cannot grow
Beneath the winter snow
Or so I have been told
They say we're buried far
Just like a distant star
I simply cannot hold
Is love alive?
Is love alive?
Is love
Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that.

For some reason this quote came to my mind immediately when I took this photo. It may have to do with the dark times we are going through and the fact that we all need some light to cheer us up. This is why I chose this photo for this week's theme 'Quote' of the 'Smile on Saturday' group.
Cannot seem to comment. Flickr is acting up....

For those with an interest in our sayings:
Thank you so much buddy, it's always a pleasure to take photos with you! Watch out for Edu's amazing version!
"A person who thinks all the time
Has nothing to think about except thoughts
So, he loses touch with reality
And lives in a world of illusions
By thoughts, I mean specifically, chatter in the skull
Perpetual and compulsive repetition of words
Of reckoning and calculating
I'm not saying that thinking is bad
Like everything else, It's useful in moderation
A good servant, but a bad master
And all so-called civilized peoples
Have increasingly become crazy and self-destructive
Because, through excessive thinking
They have lost touch with reality
That's to say
We confuse signs
With the real world
This is the beginning of meditation
Most of us would have
Rather money than tangible wealth
And a great occasion is somehow spoiled for us unless photographed
And to read about it the next day in the newspaper
Is oddly more fun for us than the original event
This is a disaster
For as a result of confusing the real world of nature with mere signs
We are destroying nature
We are so tied up in our minds that we've lost our senses
Time to wake up
What is reality?
Obviously no one can say
Because it isn't words
It isn't material, that's just an idea
Reality is
The point cannot be explained in words
I'm not trying to put you down
It's an expression of you as you are
One must live
We need to survive, to go on
We must go on!"
“Love is passion, devotion – someone you cannot live without. Find someone you are crazy about and who loves you as much as you love them. How do you find someone like that? Forget the mind and just listen to your heart. ” (Rendezvous with Joe Black)

The Bridges of Madison County – Standing in the Rain
The greatest influence on our lives
at the time is not always known
but looking back I see the truth of it
now the most beautiful of us has flown
we didn't always see eye to eye
but made our peace and recognised something more than love
so gentle and so fragile; mutually in sync
a poet and another poet flying high above
you hid your deepest secret very well
I did not guess and that was your intention
you knew my heart would break and I would fall
but don't you know you made me strong; did I forget to mention
some of all the poetry we shared
the thoughts; the impossible maths that disappeared
into the ether long ago before we reconciled
and only fragments of the fire remain to whisper in our ears
to infinity and far beyond we said ...
I look up at the newest, brightest star
and everything I feel is still remembered
will last the distance no matter how near or far
Remember, mon cher, the words I wrote to you
they are imprinted on my soul forever
you reached out and touched my life in ways I cannot still explain
you are irreplaceable; you know that I will never
forget the codes and seemingly nonsensical ways of our communication
to anyone else that saw it; must have thought
who are these two; these poets; who do they think they are
but it does not matter; all that matters was that you taught
to look beyond the ordinary everyday things of our existence
to reach for stars into infinité
I am risen up to be a better person; little é and much more
you are infinite, mon cher ami …

She cannot stand the little black box anymore so its been difficult to photograph Ms. Lottie. As you can see she has a bit of a stink eye, or perhaps she is thinking of something else...
She sits on my dresser now as it is high up and in a corner - I placed a knitted block of yarn on top and oh my how she loves that!
Be well and please be safe!
