Week 39 of 52 Weeks for Zooie
I was having some fun with the dogs shooting blindly, holding the camera low and clicking away. My flickr contact and talented pet photographer Illona introduced me to this fun way of shooting your dog.
I love how capturing just Zooie's eye and a small part of his mouth are enough to show me that he was enjoying a happy moment when I snapped his picture.
Although I'm late for last week's 52 Weeks for Dogs I'm not too late to put this photo in my 52 Weeks for Zooie set. Afterall it's my set, and there really aren't any rules.
I know I say this a lot but I am so grateful for this wonderful boy. My cancer survivor dobe is living strong. I figure that a person is considered a cancer survivor if they are cancer free for 5 years. Since 1 dog year is equivalent to 7 people years, Zooie is already a 7+ year survivor!
Oh..... and that brown shape in the forground of the photo is Benni's nose.

Week 40 of 52 Weeks for Dogs for my Zooie
I didn't have a chance to take an artistic photo of my Zooie for this weeks 52 Weeks for Dogs group. I had some ideas but it was a very crazy week and I didn't get around to taking Zooie to the place where I wanted to take his picture. I missed last week and I didn't want to miss again so I am just posting this shot of my happy, smiling, boy.

From my 365 day project archive
Inspired by the (2006) movie Rocky Balboa
Rocky giving his son, a twenty-something, generation Y, high maintenance young man an old fashioned ‘listen-up’
“Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain't you. You're better than that!” Rocky Balboa

Part of my cancer series.
People have a way of judging people based on appearance if you look healthy you are healthy. When my hair grew back after chemo I looked healthy so everyone assumed I was even those who knew I have cancer as if every thing is ok because you look ok. A lot of my symptoms were never visible but I could feel them so I knew I was sick wether or not any one else believed me which was true before being diagnosed and after. Not every thing is as it appears. I now I want to use these images for a book to raise money for a cancer charity.
I also started a group for those interested in donating light paintings for a book.
If your interested in light painting check out this new light painting group Shining Light on Cancer. Thanks.
It was her bright pink hair which first caught my attention but when I looked into her eyes I saw so much kindness. I later found out that her mom was a cancer survivor. The pink hair was most likely a tribute.

Malignant brain tumors contain cancer cells and often do not have clear borders. They are considered to be life threatening because they grow rapidly and are more difficult to treat

My way to survive cancer treatments was to start knitting again. I love choosing colors and textures that when blended are pleasing to wear and look at.. The white accent strips are the knitting needles!!!
Week 38 out of 52 Weeks for Dogs for my Zooie.
Zooie isn't an outside dog. He really just wants to be where I am. When the dogs all go outside to go to the bathroom, Zooie's the first one back on the deck to come in. If I don't let him in right away, he'll give a quick bark to let me know he's waiting for me.
I love his little bottom tofers showing in this shot. Pardon the doggie nose prints on the glass. I'd already cleaned them that morning but with five dogs.....well you know how it is.
Zooie's ulcers continue to heal well. The one on his broken "elbow" still needs to remain covered since Zooie starts to lick at it. I'm hoping all ulcers will be healed enough so we can take another radiograph next week and get an idea about how long the splint will have to go back on.
Meanwhile, my precious boy remains in good spirits. When he's happy it's hard for me to feel any other way!
Tristan recieves treatment at UC Davis Children's Hospital in Sacramento. He just finished his final chemo!
Cancer series, thinking of making a book out of this series, to sell and raise money for cancer charity, like the Creative Center that gives free art classes to people with cancer, keeping the spirit strong through art.
I posted a thread on Light Junkies called Light Painting Charity about creating a light painting group that would donate photos for a book to raise money for charity, a global LP collaboration. Looking for LP'ers and any advice in making a book, and maybe a website to sell the book and prints.
