Reflecting on an amazing weekend at the Waterloo Airshow, it was truly amazing and I can not wait for the next edition.
Une réflexion sur le spectacle aérienne de Waterloo, c'était un super de beau show, et j'ai hâte à la prochaine édition.
This aircraft was built as an A310-304 in Jul-86 and stored at Toulouse before it's first flight as F-WWCP in Dec-86. It was returned to storage until it was delivered to Wardair Canada as C-FWDX in Jan-88. Wardair was merged into Canadian Airlines International in Oct-89.
The aircraft was stored at Vancouver(?), Canada in Jan-91. It was leased to Compass Airlines (Australia) as VH-YMI in Jun-91. It returned to Canadian Airlines at the end of Jan-92 and was stored again.
The aircraft was sold to the RCAF Royal Canadian Air Force (now renamed Canadian Armed Forces) in Dec-92, designated as a CC-150 Polaris and serialled 15003. In Dec-96 it was fitted with a main deck cargo door, becoming an A310-304C and able to carry passengers or cargo. It was repainted in this 'Retro' livery in Nov-18. Now 33 years old, it continues in service. Current (Jul-19).

Former Royal Canadian Air Force from 1946 until circa 1976 and ex Royal Air Force before that.
She was converted from a C-47A to a DC-3-C-S1C3G during the seventies.

Canadian Armed Forces De Havilland(Canada) CC-115 Buffalo '115463' rolls to a crawl after making a tactical STOL approach to RAF Greenham Common during her display at the 1981 International Air Tattoo.
The Buffalo was a much improved version of their earlier and highly successful Caribou - one of many capable STOL (Short Take-Off and landing) designs made by that company.
Based in Europe in support of their NATO commitment, the Buffalo's were superceded by the CC-132 (Dash-7) then the CC-142 (Dash-8) but when the 'Iron Curtain' came down, all departed for home as the Canadian's eventually pulled their contribution back to mainland Canada

Victoria class submarine HMCS Corner Brook of the Royal Canadian Navy docked at the Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver, BC. The RCN brought her into Vancouver as part of a post refit shakedown cruise. She had spent the last decade in the drydock after suffering damage from running aground. Now the refit and new technologies has made her the most advanced sub in the fleet. The Corner Brook wasn't opened to the public but she was still cool to see, not every day you can photograph a submarine.

Well, I know Remembrance / Veteran's Day is not until Monday, but we were all together this Sunday and wanted to beat the crowds, so this morning we all took a trip to the amazing and historic Calgary Military Museum.
Established in 1914, it is a huge building filled with amazing military dioramas, art, and all sorts of military vehicles, weapons, paraphenelia, etc, from all periods of Canada's Military history.
Around the outside of the building are an amazing assortment of flags, historic military statues, tanks, jets, armored vehicles; it is a very cool place!
We went there last year on Remembrance Day around noon and the crowds were so huge there were parts of the museum that we did not even get to see!
So this year we went the day before and saw every single part of the museum, in and out, me snapping photos to record the whole trip!
This amazing Mural of Honour is the very first thing you see when you step inside the building.
It dominates an entire wall of the anteroom of the museum, and is made up of 240 iconic and amazing images denoting important events and people in Canadian Military history, and altogether they form the amazing image of the three soldiers you see above.
They have various touch screen computer monitors spread around the room where you can select individual images in the Mural and read a write up about them, they are all very unique and interesting.
Here is a link to the Mural of Honour section of the Military Museum website, where you can view online each individual image and write up, for those who are interested:

Also, positioned directly in front of the mural is a display with a rifle and a soldier's battle helmet on top, symbolizing all those who have fallen to defend our freedom.
So, let us all take this time to remember all those soldiers worldwide, through all history, who have fought so hard and made the ultimate sacrifices to help protect our rights, freedoms, and way of life!
Lest We Forget.
As I always do with Remembrance Day posts, I am including the wonderful, timeless, and touching poem In Flanders Fields, written in the First World War by Canadian Physician and Lieutenant Colonel John McRae, and which I, to this day, can not read without getting teary eyed:
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields.
Lest We Forget.
