Frame it - Another image edited for Kim Klassen's Beyond Layers II class. I loved the assortment of colors in this group of calla lillies.
I was given a beautiful bouquet of flowers by one of my residents a few weeks ago when I found out my job was safe. My favourite flower is a calla lilly, this particular one seems everlasting! I kept intending to take a pic of it and finally got round to it today.
Calla lilies are one of the most beautiful flowers with a unique flower form. They come in a wide array of colors viz., shades of green, pink, purple, yellow and orange.
Callas are also known by such other common names viz., arum lily, trumpet lily, Pig lily, or Miniature Calla Lily. Calla lilies are native to Southern Africa. They are easy to grow and are generally grown from a bulb or rhizome.
It is quite interesting that the calla lily is not a lily at all, and although it is related to the calla genus, it is not really a calla either. Then what is it? Calla lily is actually the common name for the Zantedeschia genus which once was a part of what today is known as the calla genus.
My mom got me this gorgeous Calla Lily Barbie many years ago and I finally photographed her over the weekend. I'm considering putting her head and outfit on the Made to Move Barbie body because she'll have so much more movement and the vinyl of her face matches the Asian bodied one perfectly. I don't care for photographing my dolls that have limited posability options. It's not nearly as much fun.
Calla lilies are a particularly challenging flower for me -- I dunno why. These were at Fred Meyers' Garden Center last year.
Taken at the Fred Meyer garden center here in University Place, Washington. I was fascinated by it's shape and, having my camera with me ;-), I just had to get a shot....I have been playing around with it in Photoshop to see what I can create, but this is the original.

My boredom from bad weather turned fruitful with my macro lens :))
I took this shot at Ariston flower store !! Ariston is a high scale flower store with the most beautiful flowers and arrangement. Each of these calla is sold at $10.00/stem. They are very kind and let me take pictures in the store just on one condition: not to shoot the arrangements they have, which I think is fair.
All previous and present macros are SOOC, beside some of them being cropped and all sized for flickr.
Thanks for stopping by and commenting.
Making a bouquet of these for my studio. Since I have pets it's not safe for me to have real flowers in the house, so this is a lovely solution!
Our Calla photography makes our hearts leap for joy and realize it’s natural perfection in all of it’s behavior. In our Flora Gallery we took different common plants to represent their appearances.
The Calla Lily has just a regal performance, so that we decided to dedicate a whole Gallery to it!

Do you remember "Fun With Dick and Jane"? Well, I DO and it was no fun at ALL compared to Fun With Sliders!! Just fooling around with this lovely, delicate pinky-mauvey- chartreusey Calla! Sorry, Little Flower!
