One of the easiest to grow flowers, these are were grown from cuttings in my mother-in-law's gardens and they just flourish when you replant them. They never fail to flower every year.

I had a market bouquet of flowers this week and finally had a chance to photograph them before they're gone. First are the Sunflowers ... I used my macro because this is the only way to photograph flowers in my opinion =0). The petals have a story to tell and it's my job to interpret.

The others were dahlias and daisy types ... still to come. While doing this, I remembered that my one and only Calla Lily in the garden had four blooms this year so I filled a whole card with that one. Only one is up so far ... they are such a graceful flower.

Enjoy!!

All the Callas got a good shower from our recent rains, and more is expected tomorrow.

Calla lilies are one of the most beautiful flowers with a unique flower form, i love them. They are really coming up all over my garden. We have heavy rains this year and it has inspired everything to grow

All told there are 9, possibly more, different Calla Lilies growing under the mounds of California Poppies. We even found a bulb in cultivating the area to add some annuals, possibly had got turned upside-down and we've replanted in a better location.

Calla Lilies are very popular for wedding bouquets as they signify magnificence and beauty.

Thank you for your comments and faves – they are greatly appreciated!

Maria Anna Sofia Cecilia Kalogeropoulos, or Maria Callas, Commendatore December 2, 1923 – September 16, 1977), was a Greek-American soprano, and one of the most renowned and influential opera singers of the 20th century. Many critics praised her bel canto technique, wide-ranging voice and dramatic interpretations. Her repertoire ranged from classical opera seria to the bel canto operas of Donizetti, Bellini and Rossini and further, to the works of Verdi and Puccini; and, in her early career, to the music dramas of Wagner. Her musical and dramatic talents led to her being hailed as La Divina.

Born in New York City and raised by an overbearing mother, she received her musical education in Greece and established her career in Italy. Forced to deal with the exigencies of wartime poverty and with myopia that left her nearly blind onstage, she endured struggles and scandal over the course of her career. She turned herself from a heavy woman into a svelte and glamorous one after a mid-career weight loss, which might have contributed to her vocal decline and the premature end of her career. The press exulted in publicizing Callas's temperamental behavior, her supposed rivalry with Renata Tebaldi and her love affair with Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis. Although her dramatic life and personal tragedy have often overshadowed Callas the artist in the popular press, her artistic achievements were such that Leonard Bernstein called her "the Bible of opera" and her influence so enduring that, in 2006, Opera News wrote of her: "Nearly thirty years after her death, she's still the definition of the diva as artist—and still one of classical music's best-selling vocalists."

This is a view of a calla lily plant that I saw over the weekend. This is the only calla lily that I have ever seen in Lubbock.

From my granddaughter, Calla, age 15 months. I scanned it and edited the scan.

Frame it - Another image edited for Kim Klassen's Beyond Layers II class. I loved the assortment of colors in this group of calla lillies.

I was given a beautiful bouquet of flowers by one of my residents a few weeks ago when I found out my job was safe. My favourite flower is a calla lilly, this particular one seems everlasting! I kept intending to take a pic of it and finally got round to it today.

Calla lilies are one of the most beautiful flowers with a unique flower form. They come in a wide array of colors viz., shades of green, pink, purple, yellow and orange.

Callas are also known by such other common names viz., arum lily, trumpet lily, Pig lily, or Miniature Calla Lily. Calla lilies are native to Southern Africa. They are easy to grow and are generally grown from a bulb or rhizome.
