The Calla Lilies here don't seem to have had a good start. Most of the ones I've found are looking very faded and they haven't been in flower that long.

Too much rain at the beginning of the season for them maybe, but at least this one was in a better condition than some I've seen.

Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :O)

Setting it in it's deserved lighting, this traditional calla lily presents it's beauty.

For our Studio Photography Gallery, we chose the Calla Lillies, because of the beauty of the blooms and the strong lines and soft detail forms.

Because of their pure aesthetics, it is in it’s symbolism no longer defined as a funeral flower, but is often given away as a symbol of beauty.

Common plants and flowers are always famous photography objects around the world. Photographing them like they look in the “colored world” may be a popular way to illustrate their own specific appearance. We choose to reduce the images in our specific and artistic way and present them in black&white with a special lighting situation. Our goal was to accentuate the contours of the flowers with our black-and-white photos.

One from my 365 project.

As we seem to be drowning in Union flags in the UK at the moment, here's some Photoshop silliness with the calla lily.

This is achieved by following Gavin Hoey's 'Wrap a texture around an object' tutorial:

Incidentally, I once did this to poor Humphrey. I can't remember why.:

Back to the flowers!

Fusion image of an X-Ray and a HDR photo of Calla lilies. There is inner structure of the X-Ray and colors of the HDR photo. To realize a fusion image I had to map the X-Ray onto the HDR photo, because the Macro-lens and the X-ray tube have a different geometry.

Read more about this image on my new blog.

Calla Lilies are so sculptural and defined - they are a very elegant bloom.

The ideal flower for wedding (originary from South Africa).

I found it blooming this morning in the balcony.

I bought the calla's pot with flowers in 2007.

After the flower I left the pot outside because I thought that it's "only one season" plant.

But surprisingly, in 2008 spring, the new leaves came out.

Then I just looked them....they were eaten by caterpillars.

So 2009 spring, I put the pot on the 2nd floor balcony and the leaves came out again.

But no flowers.

This year, I already learned many.

I composted them and protect them from caterpillars.

Then today it blooms!

How Happy!!! :D

The shape of calla lilies and their colors fascinate me.

in our garden

One of my friends/customers at the Saturday market where I sell my work brought me these Lilies to photograph for her. You'll be seeing more of these. I did a lot of different takes on them. I'll see her tomorrow and hope she'll be pleased with the outcome.

There are so many flowers blooming here that I have to leave California for a while
