CALLA EXPERIMENT

This was a very pretty watercolor, until I got my 'freak on' and morphed into my ''EXPERIMENTAL MODE''....I simply went wild with that ELEGANT WRITER PEN and a little Pastel too, on top of my watercolor. And if you think Watercolor brings lots of fun surprises...you should try the Elegant Writer Pen...:) ♥

I thought I would put this little tutorial about the Elegant Writer Pen up again...:)

ELEGANT WRITER...made by...www.speedballart.com

I use mostly size 1.3mm Extra Fine

I bought mine at my local Hobby Lobby arts & crafts store, near the Calligraphy section.

They are available online at various art sources also.

The cost is around three dollars.

There are several ways to use these pens in sketching/painting.

I usually draw first in pencil, then very lightly go over the pencil line with the pen, skipping some of them, not to overdo the ink.

I then barely touch the edge of the ink line with a wet(with water) brush which results in an explosion of the ink line.

You can also thoroughly wet the ink for another effect.

Once the ink has been wet with water and dried it will not ''explode'' again.

Once it dries you can add more ink if needed...and repeat procedures.

You can add watercolor after the ink has dried, or even before...but be careful doing this as ''mud'' comes easily...:)

You'll want to experiment and play with it before using it on a ''serious'' sketch or painting...:)

I have a ''set'' on my page here for all my Elegant Writer sketches & paintings.

Karlyn Holman has some wonderful examples and info. in her most recent book ''WATERCOLOR WITHOUT BOUNDARIES''...One of my favorite Art books of all time...♥♥♥

Simbolo di sentimento puro e sincero.

Zantedeschia aethiopica, commonly known as calla lily and arum lily, is a species of flowering plant in the family Araceae, native to southern Africa in Lesotho, South Africa, and Eswatini.

The derivative of the word calla is the Greek word for beauty — calla. The flowers have an interesting mythological history. Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the story, Zeus brought Hercules to nurse from his wife while she was sleeping. He wanted his son to have the strength of the gods. Hera awoke and pushed the baby away from her. Drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way and everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed.

They also have been tied to Venus in Roman mythology. Venus saw the flower and felt her beauty was threatened by its pure white blossom so she cursed it with an unsightly pistil.

....these beautiful flowers are growing in an almost forgotten part of my back garden,

up against a garden shed. The dark purple wall is actually the back of a feature wall,

adjacent to the shed......which makes for a lovely backdrop..!

They are very photogenic flowers these Callas

It is always the same, once I have an idea for the studio, I get in there, see something else, and something else again, wonderful how inspirational it can be.

My imagination running wild again...I positioned these beauties, the stage was set, the lights were on, camera/action/ ready for their close-up...

More experiments with lights and shapes.

Zantedeschia, usually erroneously called Calla or Arum lilies (only when big and white), they are not a true lily.

It is named after Italian botanist Francesco Zantedeschi.

All parts of the plant are toxic.

I wish you all a great day, and thank you for all your words, time, comments and likes. Very much appreciated. M, (*_*)

Calla Lilies have an elegance that few flowers do.

In my grandmother's country house, between shadows and light,

a Calla lily sprouted, a jewel of its privacy.

With silk petals, white and pure radiance,

It was the beloved treasure, his most precious love.

From below he looked at her, with endless admiration,

the calla lily upright and serene, in its endless splendor.

In every curve, a whisper, in every petal, a secret, the grandmother found her most discreet refuge in it.

With tender hands he cared for her, with a sweet voice he named her, the silent Calla Lily, faithful confidant, listened to her sorrows.

Every spring, his illusion was reborn, in my grandmother's heart, a song blossomed.

And so the memory lasts, of that cove in his garden, silent witness of stories, love and feelings.

Forever in memory, the calla lily rests in peace,

eternal symbol of affection, in the heart of her grandson who will always remember her when he sees the Calla lily.

'Calla' On Black

My aim was to reproduce the elegance of this beautiful flower cut from my mother's garden in the morning and in studio in the afternoon.

I used here three strobes, the strongest as backlight spot and other two softer ones from the right and left of my model. I hope you'll enjoy. I don't know if a good classical shot has his luck here. I

Here you can really understand why analogue photography has still his allure.

Il suo nome deriva dal greco kalos, bello, per la bellezza del fiore;
