Selection of Calla Lily images - In camera multiple exposure

Calla Bar Emmon stood in the hall of kings looking around to each and every statue. There were many that graced the hall. She was simply awestruck by it all.

Moving around towards where the Crownlands consulate began, she looked towards the door of her brother, aunt, and uncle. The only family she really had any more in King's Landing.

Taking a sharp breath in she contemplated going back home and just shook her head. She could not do that to their father. His house needed a beautiful example of what a Bar Emmon should be. That seemed to be her job at this point.

With the Queen in seclusion and no word from her Calla was left with little to tend to. Her Grace had sealed off part of the keep and had not allowed anyone in or out. She was worried about Her Grace and each day Calla tried to see her. Each day she was turned away.

Sad the little swordfish would make her way back to her room and plan to try again the following day, and the next, and the next, and so on until something gave in.

I'm terribly behind on my comments. So many grandkids playing ball this summer it may hinder me a little, but I love looking at your streams, so I promise I'll catch up one of these days!

Callas in bloom in this idyllic valley south of Carmel, CA. California has some gorgeous places, and this perhaps makes the short list.

The swollen creek from recent heavy rains raged loud enough to mute even the continuous roar of the Pacific Ocean beyond. I wrecked a pair of hiking boots sloshing around in the super soft mud; ironically, my rubber waders were with me in the truck the whole time. Ah well.

Lens is the DFA 55mm f/2.8 on the 645Z.

A mention to the four photographers who lined up side by side in my midground and spoiled every single frame. When you decide to stand in somebody's shot, please at least try to make yourself appear smaller or slide out of the way once in awhile. I had to spend extra time cloning all of you out, but in the end it refined my editing skills.

It is always the same, once I have an idea for the studio, I get in there, see something else, and something else again, wonderful how inspirational it can be.

My imagination running wild again...I positioned these beauties, the stage was set, the lights were on, camera/action/ ready for their close-up...

Zantedeschia, usually erroneously called Calla or Arum lilies (only when big and white), they are not a true lily.

It is named after Italian botanist Francesco Zantedeschi.

All parts of the plant are toxic.

Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the story, Zeus brought Hercules to nurse from his wife while she was sleeping. He wanted his son to have the strength of the gods. Hera awoke and pushed the baby away from her. Drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way and everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed.

This Calla lily was a gift to me a couple weeks ago, have tried repeatedly to get a shot I like...Still not out and about, the flu is holding on..but am better.

I bought a little pot of Callas and played with them a bit in the morning sunshine. Such pretty, musical lines! I really love the unfocussed blend of colours here and the suggestions of form!

Calla lilies are a beautiful addition to any garden, but you can also grow them indoors as potted plants. People love these perennial plants because the waxy and trumpet-shaped flowers come in a range of colors, because the blooms last for weeks, and because they're easy to maintain. However, it’s best to grow calla lilies from bulbs, because sprouting seeds can take a long time. Calla lilies are native to South Africa and are tropical plants, so while you can keep them outdoors in the summer, you must take steps to prepare them properly for winter in cooler climates.

In an hour at Home Depot I found not only many different plants with a variety of textured leaves, but also many flowers!! What fun to discover and capture them!

From Wikipedia ~ All Zantedeschia produce large, showy flowers spathes and are often grown both as ornamental plants and for cut flowers. Zantedeschia are relatively hardy plants, but some are more winter-hardy than others. In this regard there may be considered two groups, a hardy outdoor group with large white flowers (arum lilies) and less hardy group with white-spotted leaves and flowers in many colors (calla lilies), such as yellow, orange, pink and purple.
