I love the top of this calla lily.

Sonoma, Ca. March, 2024.

A dark pink calla for #20 in this series.

While waiting for this year's flowers to unfurl, I was seized with a desire to paint some callas. Painting solves the 'noisy backdrop' problem! And the flowers are lovely to paint.

This dark version is in the early stages of being painted [plus, I played with it].

The finished version is the real color.

Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the story, Zeus brought Hercules to nurse from his wife while she was sleeping. He wanted his son to have the strength of the gods. Hera awoke and pushed the baby away from her. Drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way and everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed.

Zantedeschia aethiopica.

When the sun hit the flower it turned it into a flashlight

In remembrance of blues man BB King who passed away today.
