If you were a flower
Se tu fossi un fiore, esso ti rappresenterebbe. Nel suo linguaggio richiama bellezza e riservatezza , ti appartiene da sempre e sempre sarà tuo fin nelle radici dell'animo!
I just noticed that Easter and Passover are this weekend. What better posting than a Cala Lily which is often called the Easter Lily. Whatever is hysterical background, when I see one wild, I shoots it. And this one, popping out in some wild Monterey Bay vegetation, really caught my eye. A docent from the local Sea Mammal Rescue told me that they are native to parts of California, but I don't think that's true. Still, I'll list it as a wildflower and hope there's no governmental (emphasis on "mental") oversight committee for misnaming flowers.
Oh, okay, I'll look it up: "Zantedeschia aethiopica (known as calla lily and arum lily) is a species in the family Araceae, native to southern Africa in Lesotho, South Africa, and Swaziland. 'Crowborough' is a more cold tolerant cultivar growing to 90 cm (35 in) tall, suited to cool climates, such as Ireland or Britain and the north-western United States." Well, this was at Big Sur and fills the bill. Besides, what a beautiful wildflower just from a photographic standpoint.
Love my new Calla Lilly!

Callas in bloom in this idyllic valley south of Carmel, CA. California has some gorgeous places, and this perhaps makes the short list.
The swollen creek from recent heavy rains raged loud enough to mute even the continuous roar of the Pacific Ocean beyond. I wrecked a pair of hiking boots sloshing around in the super soft mud; ironically, my rubber waders were with me in the truck the whole time. Ah well.
Lens is the DFA 55mm f/2.8 on the 645Z.
A mention to the four photographers who lined up side by side in my midground and spoiled every single frame. When you decide to stand in somebody's shot, please at least try to make yourself appear smaller or slide out of the way once in awhile. I had to spend extra time cloning all of you out, but in the end it refined my editing skills.
Cheers to Della and Mike for the meetup and a beer in Monterey afterward!
This year they are over 50 Calla lilies planted in pots,
This is the third to unfold so far,
Calla Lily meaning and symbolism,
Calla lilies are said to come from the ancient god Hera, the wife of Zeus. In the story, Zeus brought Hercules to nurse from his wife while she was sleeping. He wanted his son to have the strength of the gods. Hera awoke and pushed the baby away from her. Drops of milk flew across the sky creating the milky way and everywhere they landed on earth, calla lilies bloomed.
This Calla lily was a gift to me a couple weeks ago, have tried repeatedly to get a shot I like...Still not out and about, the flu is holding on..but am better.
Hope you all are having a wonderful Sunday..Many thanks for stopping by! Big hugs♥
I bought a little pot of Callas and played with them a bit in the morning sunshine. Such pretty, musical lines! I really love the unfocussed blend of colours here and the suggestions of form!
