On Friday, October, 18, 2024, a westbound BNSF 4+2 manifest meets an eastbound BNSF 3+1 intermodal at Caliente, CA. The westbound had BNSF 8232, 4076, 8321, 5177 + 4103, 8346 and the eastbound had 7651, 3902, 5513 + 5933.

BNSF 8232 is a GE ES44C4. Reportedly: It was built in 2014, builder's number 62306.

Old, beat-up, outlawed but not forgotten

The gorge is located in a long, narrow valley in southeastern Nevada. The cave-like formations and cathedral-like spires are the result of geologic processes from tens of millions of years ago. A photographer’s dream, the park offers stunning views of the scenic canyon. My night photo shows a tower in the gorge that the Civilian Conservation Corp built in the 1930s. The star trails above the tower are concentric around the North Star.

A bit of history –

The old sign for the Agua Caliente Racetrack in Tijuana on the back of the California Theatre in downtown San Diego. I can remember the sign there from the 60’s. The racetrack hosted both horse and greyhound racing from 1929 until 1992, ceasing horse racing but continuing with greyhound races until 2024.

California Theatre opened in 1927 and became a movie theatre in 1936. In 1976 it closed as a movie theatre and returned to live theatre. The theatre was closed in 1990. Various plans were proposed to renovate the theatre, but none came to fruition. In 2017 a demolition permit was granted, yet the building still stands.
