Para llegar a la histórica Ciudadela de Machu Picchu se llega primero a Aguas Calientes, el poblado más cercano a Machu Picchu (1,700 m.s.n.m.). Tanto trenes como helicópteros llegan, primero, a este pueblo. Esta localidad ubicada a 2 kilómetros de la estación de Puerto Ruinas es el lugar elegido por los viajeros para pernoctar, aquí se detienen trenes que realizan el trayecto entre Cuzco y Quillabamba, además hay varios ómnibus y combis que cubren el trayecto hasta Machu Picchu y Puente Ruinas.

Monday seems to be the day for moving empty freight cars over the Tehachapi's! Baretable trains east (UP and BNSF) and this long UP westbound of mostly bulkhead end flats (the MUG?) descends toward Caliente, CA. The units are curving over Caliente Creek as it's cars follow on down the grade from Tunnels 1 and 2.

Visitors who take the train to Machu Picchu normally descend here and catch a bus for the final, steep section.
It's a little disconcerting to find a railway running along one of the main streets

My first attempt at weft-faced/warp rep weaving, inspired by the Oaxacan rug from my father. My first attempt was somewhat successful. I had my first broken warp thread - which was kind of a big deal and I got a little nervous - but it ended up working out in the end.
This yarn, Colinette Point 5 in the Sahara colorway, was a one skein swap a few years back. I thought the colors were perfect for Project Spectrum's fire element with the deep reds and oranges in the piece.
I am planning to lightly felt this piece and cut it into coasters and/or a potholder.... either way, it will be a functional woven piece.
