The town of Aguas Calientes ("hot waters" or "hot springs"), also known as Machupicchu Pueblo (Spanish pueblo village), is the closest access point to the historical Inca site of Machu Picchu which is about 4 miles away.

Dominating the town of Caliente, NV is this very graceful Union Pacific building, which was at one time both a passenger station for the town and a place for train crews to sleep over. Since there is no more passenger service, it appears to now be mostly vacant but to have a small number of administrative offices.

Aguas Calientes is the colloquial name for Machupicchu Pueblo, a town in Peru on the Urubamba (Vilcanota) River. It is best known as the closest access point to the sacred Incan city of Machu Picchu (in Quechua: old mountain), which is 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) away, about 1.5 hours walk. It has many hotels and restaurants for tourists, as well as natural hot baths, which give the town its name ("hot waters" in Spanish). The baths were destroyed by floods several years ago, but have been rebuilt.

Agua Caliente is a hot water falls that flows into a cold lagoon. The sensation of standing in the cold water with the hot falls crashing over you is unique. Don't miss this place if you visit the Rio. Located at Finca Paraiso on Lago Izabal a short bus ride or accessible by water. Very close to the Boqueron Canyon you can see both in one day.
