My sister's cat, Tuxedo, aka Big. Hard to believe this guy is 18 years old and still going strong, except for a touch of arthritis. Anyhow, she still likes to hold him like a baby, and regardless of the look on his face in this photo, he seems to enjoy it most of the time.

Dropped temperature to lowest level in RAW adjust, so the flower stood out a bit more from the background.

Skewed hue all the way to 'green'.

Added 'feivels gothic glow: COI action' (from atncentral.com)...lasso'ing just the flower itself.

My friend Erin's birthday party consisted of her cooking pizza for everyone... with a little help from us. I think mine was the best. A little 'red sauce', feta cheese, mozzarella, sliced tomato, and smoked chicken. Yummy!

My first day experimenting with high key for Class with Dave and Dave. I thought this was the best one of her.

I only used Photoshop to make one small adjustment. I learned how to do the high key thing in Photoshop after I took this picture. So, I am actually more proud of this (and the other pictures) cause I figured out how to take picture directly from the camera that come out like this (Thanks to Dave's original assignment post.)

I will use this technique in the future. Learning 'new' (new to me) techniques is why I joined this group. Woot!

(Not this particular man but man in general!) This one is a kind gentle soul who told a couple of unruly little girls that they should leave alpine and subalpine wildflowers alone as the plants take years to grow. Their parents didn't care. And that explains so much of why the world is in the state it is in. It's so easy to take everything for granted and just not care.

This was taken at 10,870ft in the Indian Peaks Wilderness, very near treeline, just before Pawnee Pass Trail heads off to the right and Isabelle Glacier Trail continues to the lake and beyond. That white splotch is a slowly melting glacier.

Over the past year, I have collected many articles and magazines to read. The pile grows and I keep saying I must read them. This is how I feel: me against the stack.

I traveled to Alabama over the holidays and had a long enough layover in Atlanta New Year's Eve to try a "from the hip" photo. I tried a few but this one was the one that captured the hustle and bustle of traveling at the holidays the best.

Th is was my favorite assignment this week. BTW, it is not a nail. O.k. I'm announcing what this is ---- a candle holder. A large iron candle holder.

From wikipedia: Abstract art is now generally understood to mean art that does not depict objects in the natural world, but instead uses color and form in a non-representational way. You are free to create your abstraction entirely in-camera, in post-processing, or as a combination of the two.

They saw the mushrooms and the carpet of spent Russian sage flowers and they descended in droves.

Shot this with a longer exposure in order to get a feeling of movement in the waves. It was a dreary day so not much sparkle out there.

I feel like I'm trapped in one of these lately. Between work, home stuff, Josh's soccer, Ozzie's softball, and Jay's dance, everything is closing in. My normal escape is to an island, of course, but I don't have time to do that right now.

I cannot wait until Thanksgiving. Then everything lets up for a while.
