CSX 684 draws the first half of R170 out of Taft intermodal yard and onto the main siding at Taft.

Here in the year 2010 I was very surprised to stumble upon a caboose or shoving platform still being very actively used by CSX in Newell, Pa. I took this photo as it was being released from a CSX engine by the employee on the left. He told me this had come from the Demmler yard where it had been for several years.

D768 (Riverton Switcher North) runs daily on the CSX Mon Sub from Demmler to Monessen/Newell/Brownsville.

CSX 1850, Louisville & Nashville Heritage Unit, serves as a mid-train DPU on M364 as it heads east through Sidney, Ohio on a bright November 3rd, 2025.

CSX 1850 was built as CSX 3046 in June of 2012 before being renumbered and repainted into the L&N Heritage Unit.

A westbound CSX Railroad manifest freight crosses the Potomac River and approaches the station at Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. This train probably originated in Baltimore and is headed for points west - Martinsburg, WV, Pittsburgh and Chicago.

CSX # 1 "The Spirit of West Virginia" crosses a local road in Iron Gate, WV. I was packing up the camera gear in the car when the crossing bell sounded. I couldn't get to the other side of the crossing safely so the train is in shadow.

CSX CW44AC #499 leads a four header grainer out of the Hamlet Yard, NC.

CSX eastbound intermodal double stack freight train on track 1 along Broadway in Buffalo. ES40DC 5339 and ES44AH 771 power the train as it starts out after a crew change. Broadway is quiet on this Sunday morning but CSX is very busy.

CSX 779 leads an Eastbound manifest on the GT at Blue Island, IL.

CSX BC732 sits with CR 57814 at CSX's Barr Yard in Riverdale, Illinois on May 31, 2025.

I was unable to find any information on the crane but CR 57814 is a 40 foot flat car originally built as PRR 473905.

Running under a 15 Mile Per Hour Slow Order, Southbound CSX Intermodal I025 creeps through Fitzgerald, Georgia with intermodal traffic for Jacksonville, Florida out of Bedford Park, Illinois. On the head end today is GE ES44AC #3223 and EMD ST70AH #8903. The Boxcar trailing behind the Engines is a converted Track Inspection Car. Fitted with Red Light Cameras underneath, specialized equipment fitted inside uses these cameras to scan for defects along the rails that are too small to see with the naked eye.
