CSX X800-09 hustles eastbound through Woodbourne on a lovely afternoon, led by ES44AH 3238, an ES44AH and an SD40-3 with a decent sized consist of mixed freight off of Q410-06, which derailed in Acca Yard in Richmond, VA the day before...July 9, 2017.
Rebuilt SD40 add power to this northbound manifest. Only the second or third of these to appear in "our parts".
CSX B780 storms north on the River Line at Hannacroix on a gloomy mid-December afternoon in 2023. Leading the way to the midwest with ethanol empties and being assisted by a UP SD70 was NS 8099, Norfolk Southern's Southern Railway heritage unit. Surprising to me was the lack of other railfans at this spot; I believe I was one of three.
CSX GP40 6857 southbound at Alexandra, VA. Former R&P 1213 it was still in the RFP&P scheme.

Photo shot by my Dad, Jay Thomson, at Madison, TN in February 1997
On February 1, 1997 Dad shot CSX C40-8s 7569 & 7513 leading a southbound unit coal train at Madison, Tennessee.
The rear of a CSX ballast train passes the Acme Stores warehouse in Akron. Acme is a local grocery store chain.
A closer shot of the Empty Coal Drag. For most of the way to Nahunta the Train will closely follow the Brunswick Highway (US-82/State Road 520). GE ES40DC #5326, AC44CW #169 and another AC44 do the honors. Prior to January 2023 the Brunswick Sub was infrequently documented due to the fact only 1 Train ran over its whole length once a day 5 days a week which was Local A768 and later L744. However on Saturday January 7th CSX opened up a brand new connection track 22 Miles east of Waycross at Nahunta which links the Brunswick to the Nahunta Subdivision running between Folkston and Jesup. The new Track now allows CSX to run all Northbound Trains that previously ran the Jesup Sub from Waycross due east on the Brunswick to Nahunta where they turn due north onto the A Line towards Jesup and Savannah via Broadhurst. While there are three major sidings along the Jesup Sub between Waycross and Jesup Proper, the longest comes in at a length of 8,019 feet which is often dwarfed by the massive 10,000+ Foot manifest trains being sent from Rice Yard in the current era of PSR. Running Northbounds via the Brunswick and Nahunta Subs to Jesup now allows dispatchers to run Southbounds on the Jesup Sub via Screven, Offerman and Homestead without having to worry if they will fit in any of the sidings or not for opposing traffic. CSX 911, 3194 & 1776 (former 3112) were painted in 3 different paint schemes. CSX 911 was painted in the 1st Responders paint, CSX 3194 was painted in the Law Enforcement paint, and CSX 1776 was renumbered from CSX 3112 and repainted into the Veterans paint.
CSX stack train Q191 cruises westbound by the signals off the Norfolk Southern Morrisville Line at CP King in Plymouth Township, PA on evening of May 8, 2007. CSXT 696 leads SD70AC 4788
Departing Rice Yard in Waycross, Georgia on Thursday October 20th 2022 is CSX Train L74320. 743 is daily rock loads out of Brownsand, Georgia for Winston, Florida near Lakeland. Along the way he stops here at Rice Yard to pick up Lakeland Area Manifest Traffic. Originally the Manifest would of been handled by Train M603 which ran from here to Winston. However as of when i’m posting this, 603 and counterpart 604 have both been abolished with 743 and counterpart L729 now handling the Manifest between both points. As mentioned before, the cantilever above the Train carries the northbound signals for Control Point South Wye. It is here that Trains like this L743 enter the mainline from Rice Yard to kick off their long trek down into Florida and vice versa for northbounds. It is also were the Jesup Subdivision curves due north and continues on towards Homestead, Patterson and Jesup Proper were it merges back into the Nahunta Subdivision towards Savannah. Continuing straight takes you onto the Fitzgerald Subdivision towards Cordele and Manchester. Video of this catch and more: youtu.be/Lr47CNyWD-g
