From a morning of mixed light a couple of weeks back. Thanks all for your continued support.

A retired corn crib enjoying a spot of peace and solitude.

On September 17, 2015 I was driving along a highway in north central Illinois when I spotted this old crib standing tall above the unharvested corn. As I pulled up, I discovered that it had company, a vintage Cadillac Sedan of 1950 or '51.

Wide-angle photo of these three very unique corn cribs located near Fithian, Illinois. While I have seen this style of corn crib, I don't think I have seen this setup with 3 cribs connected like this. There are fewer and fewer of these old corn cribs around.

Named for the nearby Pripyat River, Pripyat was founded on 4 February 1970, the ninth nuclear city in the Soviet Union, for the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. It was officially proclaimed a city in 1979, and had grown to a population of 49,360 before being evacuated a few days after the 26 April 1986 Chernobyl disaster.

Though Pripyat is located within the administrative district of Ivankiv Raion, the abandoned city now has a special status within the larger Kiev Oblast (province), being administered directly from Kiev. Pripyat is also supervised by Ukraine's Ministry of Emergencies, which manages activities for the entire Chernobyl Exclusion Zone.

Access to Pripyat, unlike cities of military importance, was not restricted before the disaster as nuclear power stations were seen by the Soviet Union as safer than other types of power plants. Nuclear power stations were presented as being an achievement of Soviet engineering, where nuclear power was harnessed for peaceful projects. The slogan "peaceful atom" (Russian: ?????? ????, mirnyj atom) was popular during those times. The original plan had been to build the plant only 25 km (16 mi) from Kiev, but the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, among other bodies, expressed concern about it being too close to the city. As a result, the power station and Pripyat were built at their current locations, about 100 km (62 mi) from Kiev. After the disaster the city of Pripyat was evacuated in two days.

Some new faces, some old, made new friends and generally we were in our elements.

Rhetorical question but did we have a blast? You bet!

Amazing group, top guys. Till the next time!

I photographed this corn crib this morning and was disappointed that the sky was clear, so plan B is to go minimal.

No fancy lighting needed for such an epic location! Did you get out and cover some new terrain this weekend?

Now that I've added floss around the leaves, I'm finally starting to like this.

Crib Goch at sunset, Snowdona, North Wales. A great spot in the late evening, perched up high making the most of the light.

This crib supports up to three Zooby babies and would look stunning in any family home.

The crib itself is modify so you can re size it to your hearts content. Although you should be aware that the Zooby mattress prim is no modify.

Crib Goch is described as a knife-edged arête in the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, Wales. The name means red ridge in the Welsh language.

The highest point on the arête is 923 metres 3,028 ft above sea level. All routes which tackle Crib Goch are considered mountaineering routes in winter or scrambles in summer.

This first part of the ridge is exposed with precipices below, having resulted in several fatalities, even of experienced mountaineers the Snowdonia National Park Authority describe it as not a mountain for the inexperienced.

An arête is a thin, almost knife-like, ridge of rock which is typically formed when two glaciers erode parallel U-shaped valleys.

Located at the Museum of Appalachia, the Cox Corn Crib came from the old “Bunk” Cox place about 2 miles south of the museum on a site taken when I-75 was built.
