A lonely corn crib sits alone out in a field a long way from the road. All other buildings are long gone, and so is the long lane that used to run back to the farmstead.

Typical rural Illinois.

Combination storage shed/corn crib.

Hasn't seen any corn in awhile though.

A hiker navigates an eerie and forboding Crib Goch ridge in Snowdonia

I was prowling over in Tennessee (Claiborne County) a few weeks ago and saw this old corn crib along the side of the road.

Another walk up to the summit for sunrise and one I'am addicted to for sure, to have the roof top of Wales to yourself and watch the sun rise on a new day is complete solitude, great place to be.

I have driven by this old red crib many times, but never stopped. With only a couple minutes of light remaining, I stopped long enough to take a few photos with my Fujifilm X100V.

Someone went to a lot of effort a number of years ago to paint the stars and stripes on the side of this corn crib. It is hard to know how many have seen this on the drive east from Lincoln, Illinois over the many years it has graced the side of this crib. I brought this camera and body along on my drive yesterday in hopes of photographing some birds, but the 600mm equivalent focal length came in handy as a landscape lens, allowing me to capture an image a few minutes before sunset on Saturday that otherwise would not have been possible.

According to the inscription on the cupalow, the corn crib on the right was built in 1941, probably before December 7.

I'm Hellbender and welcome to my crib, yo!

Deteriorating corn crib that will soon be a memory

A weathered corn crib in Mercer County Illinois.

Rural Tiskilwa, Illinois is full of old barns and corn cribs, quite a few being in this condition.

After spend most of the day in the sun, walking around Dinorwig. I looked across the valley towards Crib Goch and saw a small whisper of cloud hanging around the peak. Just as the sun disappeared behind the mountings, the cloud was lit for a few minutes, giving this beautiful glow to the cloud.

Corn crib in Henry County Illinois

The evening sun brings a warm glow to this weathered rural Illinois corn crib. Part of a friend's farmstead complete with a house and other out buildings was recently sold. The new owner's intent is to raze the buildings and farm over the property. Although it is sad to see these places disappear, this is the most practical thing to do.

Was lucky enough to catch this sunset at Cribs creek campsite on the West Coast Trail.

(The bumper pads are probably not going to stay there after all the research I did on them, revealing that they may be more dangerous than helpful).

On the 1,107 acres of Barrington Farm, Dr. Jones farmed 50 acres of cotton and 20 to 80 acres of corn. He also constructed several log buildings, or "cribs", used to store these crops. Corn cribs were used to house the grain needed to feed people and animals on the farm, while cotton cribs were used to store cotton crops until Dr. Jones could bring his cotton to Washington (Texas) for ginning and baling at Mr. Lott's or Mr. Cooper's cotton gins.

Crib Goch is described as a "knife-edged" arête in the Snowdonia National Park in Gwynedd, Wales. The name means "red ridge" in the Welsh language.

The highest point on the arête is 923 metres (3,028 ft) above sea level.

We see Mount Snowden in the background, Snowdon or Yr Wyddfa is the highest mountain in Wales, at an elevation of 1,085 metres above sea level, and the highest point in the British Isles outside the Scottish Highlands.

old corn crib ... central Illinois ... texture by ~Brenda-Starr~

Just a wink of the eye from this abandoned corn crib in Cedar County Iowa.

I am going to be away for the next few days. We are going to our "crib" on the banks of a southern river. Ours is a bit bigger and has a few more home comforts than this one which is beside a local dam.

These small holiday homes are called cribs in the south of NZ -I suspect its something to do with our Scottish origins down here, in the north they are called bach's.

Anyway, have a great weekend everyone!
