Community Day was the culmination of BAMPFA's Grand Opening Week. The museum doors were thrown open for twelve hours to mark this historic occasion. Visitors got a first look at our inaugural exhibition, Architecture of Life. I noticed that my community is around food and that's why I chose this picture. I made the edits because the original picture is kind of dark.
To celebrate at the culmination of our opening week events, we hosted our Community Open House on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, from noon to 2:30 p.m. Groups of a cappella singers, dancers, and musicians filled the center as we opened up our spaces and invited the public to poke around. Elise Witt led An Impromptu Glorious Chorus at the end of the open house and invited everyone to join in. After the open house, we welcomed our second performers, the conductorless ensemble Sphinx Virtuosi.

SAN DIEGO, CA—A political discussion regarding minority issues, foreclosures, education, and San Diego's financial future was held at the offices of the Mabuhay Alliance on Black Mountain Road in San Diego on Friday March 14. Participating in the event were San Diego mayoral candidate Steve Francis; candidates for the State Assembly's 78th District, Auday Arabo and Arlie Ricasa; a candidate for San Diego City Council's 7th District, Marti Emerald; and Devonna Almagro who's running for the Chula Vista City Council.
About Twenty-five people associated with the Mabuhay Alliance were in attendance to hear the candidates express their positions on local issues. They represent different businesses and organizations throughout San Diego.

The Cultural and Community Centers’ Welcome Receptions and Community Kick-Off event was held throughout Squires and in the Squires Ballroom. Food for the event was provided by Marco & Luca, Taqueria El Paso, and Our Kitchen Caters.

Many of current and potential students took advantage of an event aimed at teaching them how they stand to benefit through Houston Community College’s training opportunities and course studies. Saturday’s event at HCC’s Alief Campus (SOAR Learn and Earn Summit) was hosted jointly by HCC District VII and Alief ISD with HCC Trustee Neeta Sane and Alief ISD Trustee Ann Williams initiating and leading this summit. The event was held at the HCC Alief Campus Saturday, April 2. The attendees asked potential employers about what they’re looking for in an employee. They also learned about job skills, work ethics and financial aid.
