This is one portion of one tree of many at the Rockport Rookery. The Great blue herons are all facing the setting sun except the one that just returned with some nest builind materials. There was lots of mating rituals, gift, and nest material presentation going on in the colony.
Nobody sees a flower - really - it is so small it takes time - we haven't time - and to see takes time,

"Don't ever take a fence down until you know why it was put up."
........Robert Frost
This fence is part of an historical community garden, which in turn is part of a larger heritage precinct in the little town of Penola, South Australia which lies in the heart of the famous wine area of Coonawarra.
I doubt it serves a lot of practical purpose now - except for looking gorgeous and being a prop for photographers. Its a wonderful tribute to the community who maintain and preserve these historical treasures. HFF

This is the fourth piece in the series I am calling Community. This work is in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and continues my experiences in the seniors photography workshop where we are looking at the communities in which we live. We are working towards a group project of some sort that we are collectively trying to define. It is very interesting for me as I have not worked collaboratively in my art very much.
This is not wedding related, but my daughter is taking a very special trip for the next two weeks - Community Camp!
I am grateful to those staff members who are taking time out of their lives to bring a little joy to the world - virtually and otherwise. ♥

I have been attending a (seniors) photography workshop where we are looking at the communities in which we live. We are working towards a group project of some sort that we are collectively trying to define. It is very interesting for me as I have not worked collaboratively in my art very much.
Part of the progress is journaling as we try to individually place ourselves to experience new aspects of our neighbourhoods with the goal to tell a collective story on some level. It is interesting for me as I have mostly focused on the E+Ps of image making and have not initiated work with a any specific objectives in mind.
In the end I will not tell you what I see in this, what it means, that is for you to contribute. I will tell you that It does address many aspects of community I see around me in 2020 both good and bad.
Porch Party
Come sit with me and we’ll not be alone.
We’ll chill by the pool and forget about the phone.
Schoolchildren's art on display in the Tateishi Nakamise shopping arcade. Local shops and the shopping street association give prizes for kids' art, and some of the winners were on display when I visited.
To me, this photo shows the strong connection between local shopping streets and the community. They are one and the same, essentially. Gut one, you're going to end up gutting the other. This arcade is over sixty years old, and arguably needs to be rebuilt. Rebuilt--not replaced by something that will primarily serve the interests of entities outside the community, who have no vested interest in it, and see it only as a locus for extracting profit.
Something unusual - the finials on this metal fence each had a crocheted cover. I am guessing a community art project but lovely to see
