My friend, Curt, a DJ with a weekly program on our local community radio station passed away suddenly last week, at the young age of 46. He was known as "The Rocker" on KKFI. He is missed by many. Rest in Peace, Curt - your wide smile, stunning blue eyes, thoughtfulness and mischevious personality will not be forgotten.
Community health worker, James Koroma in Magburaka, Tonkolili district, Sierra Leone on March 25, 2017. James Koroma is a Community health worker (CHW), one of an ‘army’ of 15,000 volunteers in Sierra Leone that bring life-saving health services to their communities. “I am excited about being a CHW because it gives me opportunities to help save the lives of people in my community, especially women and children,” he said. Before James became a CHW, people in his village, especially women and children, found it difficult to access treatment for common but dangerous ailments like malaria, diarrhea and pneumonia. Getting treatment for such ailments most times meant a seven-mile walk to the closest health facility.
The 27th annual Community Christmas program for the Riverbend community in Illinois is collecting items for those in need during the holiday season. The program, sponsored by United Way's Southwest Illinois Division and The Telegraph, runs through December 15, when dozens of boxes will be picked up from local businesses, organizations, churches and schools to be distributed to 15 local agencies. Items being collected include non-perishable food, new clothes and coats, winter weather necessities like gloves, hats and scarves, blankets, towels, baby care items, hygiene items, and new toys.

The Fodice Community School began in the 1880s and was housed in the local Methodist church until about 1900 when a schoolhouse was built west of the church. Enrollment increased through the years, and in 1938-40 improvements were made to the one-story building through the Works Progress Administration. In 1945 Fodice school was consolidated with the Pennington School District. The population of the town dwindled and in 1960 students from Fodice were transferred to other area schools. The building continues to serve Fodice as a community center. (1997) (Marker No. 11134)

The last Fringe show we saw was Legoland, at the Theatre Passe Muraille. I was disappointed that the title was metaphorical; there was no Lego in the play, nor did they even discuss it. Regardless, the play was amusing. 16 Ryerson Ave, Toronto, ON, Canada.

If you are planning a party and you live close to Killenard village, the killenard community center is the right place to do it, but of course with the entertaining provided by the best children entertainer in Ireland, the children Entertainer Jeca the clown. The hall of this place is very big and ideal to a Jeca the clown’ many games and activities and the great floor helps the kids run safety up and down without risk.

Since 1990 The Killenard Community Centre, under the curatorship of Michael Cobbe, has been an invaluable local amenity serving the needs of the people of Killenard.
It is used extensively by many groups in the area for Set Dancing, Indoor Soccer, Squash, Badminton, Netball, Basketball and various other sporting activities. The hall is also available for parties and private events.
In addition to the above, there are several smaller rooms available for meetings, Whist, Speech and Drama classes and many other pursuits. There is also a Bottle & Clothing Bank situated at the rear of the centre

The Little Mr. & Miss Contest always draws a big crowd. This year the event was moved from Saturday to Tuesday night.

The MeckTech Computer Kit Program provides adults without computers the opportunity to receive a free, refurbished laptop to aid in accessing the Internet for job search, meeting online, writing resumes, helping children with homework, and accessing the modern economy. For Spring 2023, the program will distribute approximately 20,000 laptops to individuals in need.
As part of the distribution process residents pick up laptops after choosing a preferred pick-up time. Dozens of volunteers with Charlotte Mecklenburg Library, community volunteers, and Digital Navigators from the Center for Digital Equity distribute thousands of laptops during each event, equipping residents with the means to succeed.
