Presented for the first time at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider has been voted "Most Beautiful Car 2014" ā in the "Sports Cars and Convertibles" category - by readers of the Austrian edition of Auto Bild. The captivating convertible saw off more than 13 rivals, coming in ahead of the new Jaguar F-Type CoupĆ© and the Ford Mustang (in the same category, but lower down in the rankings, were the new Lamborghini HuracĆ”n, the Porsche 911 Targa and the Audi TT).
At the end of March, Auto Bild Austria asked its readers to choose, from all new models released during the preceding 12 months, the one with the most appealing design. More than 80 cars ā divided into 5 categories ā were put on a shortlist which was published by the magazine and became the basis for the vote. The selection was carried out entirely by the readers, with no magazine editors or automotive sector experts involved.
The highly esteemed Design Award was established by Auto Bild magazine in 2006 and a vote is now held in 20 European countries every spring. The award is assigned on the basis of the design of newly launched models and has become a permanent fixture in the annual schedule for the automotive industry. The results for all other European markets will become available starting from 30 May.
Alfa Romeo 4C Spider
Spiders have always occupied a prime place in Alfa Romeo's heritage because they are the freest and most emotion-driven expression of motoring. The same spirit is expressed by the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, the natural evolution of the Alfa Romeo Spider versions that have always delivered great excitement, ensured outstanding driving satisfaction and combined a line which is the stuff of dreams with the performance of powerful, flexible engines.
Designed by the Alfa Romeo Style Centre, the mid-engined 2 seater with rear-wheel drive confirms the brand's excellence in this sector as demonstrated by some of its recognizable Spiders, among the most beautiful in the history of the motor world, such as the Giulietta Spider from the 1950s or the mythical Duetto made famous by the film, The Graduate (1967), up to the captivating Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. And now it is the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider's turn to take to the stand by projecting the technological and emotional values that are part of Alfa Romeo's heritage into the future.
The preview of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider in Geneva was characterised by an exclusive three-layer glossy white livery which, with its depth and iridescence, shaped the car, highlighting the sculpted, finely modelled surfaces. Over this unmistakably elegant Italian 'attire' are the specific carbon roll-bar cover and the carbon windscreen ring, which combines the concepts of lightness and resistance, in line with Alfa Romeo's exclusive synthesis of 'functional beauty'. The search for brand-new stylistic solutions can also be seen in the new clamshell headlights, the distinctive differentiated diameter alloy wheels (18" at the front and 19" at the rear) and the large Pirelli tyres.
The elemental design and essential materials also distinguish the interior, which is all designed and built for maximum driving satisfaction. Specifically, the carbon fibre in the interior immediately stands out, used to make the central cell, which has been left in full view to enhance the sense of uniqueness, of technology and light weight. Additionally, to further enhance the unique quality of the spider version, Alfa Romeo's designers have chosen a particular leather upholstery that results from the finest tradition of Italian craftsmanship.
The car is equipped with the new "4-cylinder" 1750 Turbo Petrol with innovative aluminium block ā permitting a saving of 22 kg ā and specific intake and exhaust systems which have been optimised to enhance the sports appeal of the car even further. In addition, it boasts cutting-edge technical solutions including direct fuel injection, dual continuous variable valve timing, a turbocharger and a revolutionary scavenging control system that gets rid of any turbo lag.
The 1750 Turbo Petrol engine is teamed with the innovative Alfa TCT automatic twin dry clutch transmission, which is a genuine benchmark in its segment due to its limited weight and extreme speed of activation. The gears can also be changed in sequential mode using the "shift paddles" located behind the steering wheel.
The old Eight Bells pub in Westfield Road, Dunstable will become a new Co-op store later this summer. Hurrah!!
A boy and his dog were walking on the street.. Dog told his master "Wherever you go i will come" suddenly!!!....!??.. thunders n trumpets are happening.. this time our Boy was raptures.. ....Dog told itself Yes, Wherever you go am not following you.. Yes Beloved JESUS COMING SOON... Be prepared.!!
And still, the ripe fruit and the branch
Observe the sky begin to blanch
Without a cry, without a prayer
With no betrayal of despair

Photographed in Carlise Bay Marine Park, Barbados, where there are 6 wrecks...
Berwyn: Carlisle Bay ~ 20ft ~ A 70 ft long World War I French
Tug Boat sunk in 1919 by her own crew. The Berwyn sits between 7 and 10 feet below the surface depending on the tide. As a result of the calm water in the bay and the age of this wreck the Berwyn is covered in marine life including healthy hard and soft coral growth and their associated reef creatures.
Ce-Trek: Carlisle Bay ~ 45ft ~ The Ce-Trek, a derelict boat constructed of cement was sunk in January 1986. This shipwreck sits in deeper water on the northern edge of the park and is home to nice coral, soft coral and sponge growth.
Eillon: Carlisle Bay ~ 55ft ~ This 110ft drug boat was tied up for ~6 years in the Bridgetown careenage before it was sunk on 8th June 1996 in Carlisle Bay Marine Park. The wreck is easily accessqible for penetration and has an air pocket in the bow big enough to a conversation at 25ā² under.
Bajan Queen: Carlisle Bay ~ 35ft ~ She was Barbadosā first tugboat named the āPelicanā when the Bridgetown Harbour was being constructed in the 1960ās. A decade later, as more modern tugboats were purchased; the Pelican was then converted to a party boat called āBajan Queenā. The Bajan Queen holds many memories for thousands of Barbadians and visitors alike. After years of operation as the party spot the Bajan Queen was donated to the Coastal Zone Management Unit. From there with the assistance of our very own Andre Miller the Bajan Queen was cleaned up and sunk on 19th May 2002 in Carlisle Bay Marine Park. She now sits only a few feet below the surface and is accumulating some excellent fish life and good coral diversity.
Cornwallis: Carlisle Bay ~15ft ~ A Canadian freighter sunk by a torpedo from a German U-Boat during World War II. This wreck was relocated from a very high boat traffic region of the bay to this Marine Reserve on 22nd October 2003.
Barge: Carlisle Bay ~ 12ft ~ A Naval Landing Barge found in Carlisle Bay. This wreck is now home to numerous reef fish including the pufferās bigger cousin the porcupine fish.
I arrived in Macau very late in the evening. Whilst the lights of the casinos were amazing I had no idea that for the next 4 days I would not get to see the sun. At night I could not see the heavy smog that covers Macau (Blown in from China mainland and trapped over Macau by the mountains). Everyday is a humid grey day. You can't see very far and the humidity drenches you quickly.
Still I enjoyed Macau by day and night.
I was there for the Samsung Communications (Australia) conference and stayed at the Soffitel on Ponte 16. It was extremely luxurious. Plenty of good food (Waited on Hand and foot), lots to see. This is an amazing Tax Haven. I can see the rich coming and going by Helicopter, into the casinos. I saw many Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, Rolls Royces and more.
A land of plenty built on the many poor people who servce it.
Macau, also spelled Macao, is one of the two Special Administrative Regions of the People's Republic of China, the other being Hong Kong. Macau lies on the western side of the Pearl River Delta across from Hong Kong to the east, bordered by Guangdong Province to the north and facing the South China Sea to the east and south. The territory's economy is heavily dependent on gambling and tourism, but also includes manufacturing. The Cantonese people from Hong Kong and Guangdong especially recent mainland tourism from Mandarin speaking regions have boosted the economy of Macau significantly.
A former Portuguese colony, Macau was administered by Portugal from the mid-16th century until late 1999, when it was the last remaining European colony in Asia. Portuguese traders first settled in Macau in the 1550s. In 1557, Macau was rented to Portugal by the Chinese empire as a trading port. The Portuguese administered the city under Chinese authority and sovereignty until 1887, when Macau became a colony of the Portuguese empire. Sovereignty over Macau was transferred back to China on 20 December 1999. The Sino-Portuguese Joint Declaration and the Basic Law of Macau stipulate that Macau operate with a high degree of autonomy until at least 2049, fifty years after the transfer. By 2002, it had become one of the world's richest cities. In 2004, the World's Highest Skyjump was broken in Macau. It became the world's biggest gambling centre in 2006.
Under the policy of "one country, two systems", the PRC's Central People's Government is responsible for the territory's defense and foreign affairs, while Macau maintains its own legal system, police force, monetary system, customs policy, and immigration policy. Macau participates in many international organizations and events that do not require members to possess national sovereignty.
According to The World Factbook, Macau has the second highest life expectancy in the world. In addition, Macau is one of the very few regions in Asia with a "very high Human Development Index", ranking 23rd or 24th in the world in 2007 (with Japan being the highest in Asia; the other Asian countries/regions within the "very high HDI" category are South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Brunei).
Before the Portuguese settlement in the mid-16th century, Macau was known as Haojing or Jinghai. The name Macau is thought to be derived from the A-Ma Temple, a temple built in 1448 dedicated to Matsu ā the goddess of seafarers and fishermen.. The Portuguese named the peninsula "Macau".
The history of Macau is traced back to the Qin Dynasty (221ā206 BC), when the region now called Macau came under the jurisdiction of Panyu county, in Nanhai prefecture (present day Guangdong). The first recorded inhabitants of the area were people seeking refuge in Macau from invading Mongols during the Southern Song Dynasty. Under the Ming Dynasty (1368ā1644 AD), fishermen migrated to Macau from Guangdong and Fujian provinces.
Macau is situated 60 kilometres southwest of Hong Kong and 145 kilometres from Guangzhou. It also has 41 kilometres of coastline, yet only 310 metres of land border with Guangdong. It consists of the Macau Peninsula itself and the islands of Taipa and Coloane, which are now connected by landfill forming the Cotai Strip. The peninsula is formed by the Zhu Jiang (Pearl River) estuary on the east and the Xi Jiang (West River) on the west. It borders the Zhuhai Special Economic Zone in mainland China. The main border crossing between Macau and China is known as the Portas do Cerco (Barrier Gate) on the Macau side, and the Gongbei Port of Entry on the Zhuhai side.
Macau has a humid subtropical climate, with average relative humidity between 75% and 90%. Similar to much of South China, seasonal climate is greatly influenced by the monsoons, and differences in temperature and humidity between summer and winter are noticeable, though not as great as inland China. The average annual temperature of Macau is 22.7 °C
Macau's economy is based largely on tourism. Other chief economic activities in Macau are export-geared textile and garment manufacturing, banking and other financial services. The clothing industry has provided about three quarters of export earnings, and the gaming, tourism and hospitality industry is estimated to contribute more than 50% of Macau's GDP, and 70% of Macau government revenue
Starting in 1962, the gambling industry had been operated under a government-issued monopoly license by Stanley Ho's Sociedade de Turismo e DiversƵes de Macau. The monopoly ended in 2002 and several casino owners from Las Vegas attempted to enter the market. With the opening of the Sands Macao, in 2004 and Wynn Macau in 2006, gambling revenues from Macau's casinos were greatly prosperous. In 2007, Venetian Macau, at the time the second (now sixth) largest building in the world by floor space, opened its doors to the public, followed by MGM Grand Macau. Numerous other hotel casinos, including Galaxy Cotai Megaresort, are also to be opened in the near future.
In Macau, the unit of currency is the pataca which is currently pegged to the Hong Kong dollar at a rate of HK$1 = MOP1.03. The name pataca is a Portuguese word which was applied to the Mexican dollars that were the main circulating coin in the wider region in the second half of the 19th century.
Macau is the most densely populated region in the world, with a population density of 20,497 persons per square kilometre in 2013(18,428 persons/km2 in a 2004 projection 47,728/sq mi). 95% of Macau's population is Chinese; another 2% is of Portuguese and/or mixed Chinese/Portuguese descent, an ethnic group often referred to as Macanese.
Both Chinese (Cantonese) and Portuguese are Macau's official languages.
