Carolina Coastal train 119 is seen heading on old Norfolk Southern Railway trackage toward the bridge over Pamlico Sound enroute to Chocowinity. Seen on the train chase prior to the Norfolk Southern Railway Historical Society Meeting. Caught at roughly the same spot in both directions.
The mirrored window on the South side of the Shaw Conference center gives a unique perspective of the Edmonton River Valley. The reflection that results is a photographer's dream, especially if all of the lines match up perfectly.
Coming back home after long day ...

On longer evenings,
Light, chill and yellow,
Bathes the serene
Foreheads of houses.
A thrush sings,
Laurel-surrounded
In the deep bare garden,
Its fresh-peeled voice
Astonishing the brickwork.
It will be spring soon,
It will be spring soonā
And I, whose childhood
Is a forgotten boredom,
Feel like a child
Who comes on a scene
Of adult reconciling,
And can understand nothing
But the unusual laughter,
And starts to be happy.
The second Monday of January is known as the Coming of Age Day, a festival celebrated by young adults who turn 20 between April 1 of the previous year and March 31 of the current year. No bungee jumping in Japan for new adults. But instead, it is marked by a ceremony held in city halls and the vising of shrines. On this day, women would wear kimono but most men nowadays wear a suit and tie rather than the traditional hakama.
