At 15 I had my first girlfriend. At 16 i came out to my mother who immediately disowned me causing me to stay silent about it ever again..called confused and just young and in a phase...i tucked away my heart for so long after that...Here i am 15 years later and I came out to everyone and ive never felt so alive and so myself. I am bisexual and I am proud of me. Love is Love no matter gender or sexuality choices.
No sun on this pass so I had to plus the exposure comp more than I'd usually do, with the help of a little editing I managed to get the ol' boy to pop!
Surely one of the best things about school must be walking home afterwards with your friends, particularly when the sun is shining!

After a short pause they were on their way again to Newport Docks (Simsgroup) for scrapping. Caught in a bit of midday sunshine only because they were running over three hours late at this stage after a late departure from Birkenhead EMUD. 2 December 2024

A lethargic female Black Bear with her tiny cub carefully placed beneath her. Taken shortly after their emergence from Winter denning in the Spring of 2011.
UPDATE: Begins airing on May 19th, 2013!
In April of 2011, I was given the coolest opportunity of a lifetime. I was contacted via email in December 2010 by a young lady named Evie Wright of Wild Horizons Ltd, a UK-based documentary filmmaker. She saw my wildlife photos on Flickr and that is what initiated our correspondence - isn't the Internet such a powerful medium? At the time, Wild Horizons was contracting with Discovery Channel for an upcoming series about North America and she wanted to know if I could get them positioned into key areas for Black Bears emerging from their Winter dens. More here on my latest Black Bear Blog....
Although my helping hand in this epic series was very tiny, it is a life moment I will never, ever forget. I was in total awe of the HD video equipment they had plus the commitment to rise early each and everyday to hike in rough terrain until the daylight faded (while toting the equipment on their backs).

7 Part Series “North America” Coming to Discovery Channel in 2013
This series was originally slated to air in 2012, but now it is 2013 - and for some reason they have dropped the 'Wild Planet' tag from the title. Plus the Wild Horizons web site is no longer in existence.

THANKS FOR VIEWING!
As it was another beautiful day here in Victoria today, my wife and I went out for several photo walks, enjoying the spring-like weather. During our first walk in the morning, I took this photo of some cherry blossoms coming into bloom on the side of the BC Parliament Buildings. Now, cherry blossoms are coming into bloom along many of the streets throughout the city.
By the way, if you are a Canon user and you use Photoshop or Lightroom, I recommend that you use Canon's Digital Photo Professional to convert your RAW files, save them as 16-bit TIFF files, and then open them for editing in ACR (using open as), as I have found that ACR does a horrible job of converting RAW files. I have always hated how ACR converted my files, as they never look identical to the images in my camera. Until now, I have never thought of using the RAW file converter that Canon provided with my camera, but tested it out with several photos today, and the difference is significant. In addition to poor colour rendition and darkening of images, I noticed that details are sometimes lost too - in a long-exposure shot that I took last night during twilight, in the ACR converted image several stars are lost; whereas, they remain clear in the DPP converted image; and, the colours and exposure are the same as in camera with DPP, but are off using ACR for the conversion.
It shouldn't be a surprise, however, as ACR takes a general approach to demosaicing images from the sensors of various camera makers; whereas, DPP is using the precise algorithms needed to convert Canon's files. That said, Photoshop or Lightroom are fantastic for the rest of my editing needs; and, I would not use DPP for editing ~ just for the conversion and to use the lens profile corrections.
I have replaced the following recent photos using DPP instead, and they resemble much more closely the original images as seen in camera:
Well, sorry for the long caption...I just thought some of you may be interested, as it may help you get the results you should be getting without too much work.
