This region in northern Mississippi is known as the "Black Prairie" region for the dark color of the soil.
Spent an hour today where the fish were jumping - still not many and mostly trout. Managed to capture half a dozen jumping shots. These are probably the best of the bunch

2253 'Omaha' glints in the morning sunshine as it arrives into Consall with the 0915 Froghall to Ipstones, first train of the CVR's Super Power weekend.
Another shorty shot from yesterday morning! It was by far my most productive day with these awesome birds!
Many Happy Returns, 'Hagley Hall'. There is great anticipation of the return to traffic of the Severn Valley Railway's flagship locomotive, former Great Western Railway 'Hall-Class' No. 4930 'Hagley Hall'. Following withdrawal from service by BR in 1963 the locomotive languished in Woodham's scrap yard until purchased by the SVR in 1972. Nine years later, and 'Hagley Hall' emerged from Bridgnorth Works, and straight back onto the main line. Seen here with Black 5 No. 5000, 'Hagley Hall leads the SVRA 'Inter City' charter from Hereford to Chester through Baschurch on 22nd September 1979. Withdrawn by the SVR in 1986, No., 4930 again languished firstly on the SVR, and then for a period on display at a designer shopping outlet on the site of the former Swindon Works, where 'Hagley Hall' had been built in 1929. The long awaited second overhaul commenced in 2013, and a second 'happy return' is planned when the locomotive re-enters traffic in mid-2022. Hello everyone - I am back. We had a wonderful holiday and I have lots of photos to go through. I took this photo at a Lion and Rhino Park at Hartbeesport. We were sitting in the car looking at some wild dogs when my husband noticed the lions walking through the long grass. They came right up to the car before we realised that we couldn't close the windows as the motor was turned off. Luckily, they walked around the back of the car and walked about 50 metres away and laid down under a tree.

Canada Day we spent on the Banks of the Miramichi River in Miramichi, NB and while we were there this freighter came into port!
I saw this location yesterday and had to return last night to shoot it. I was hoping for better bus trails but I'm still quite happy with the images.

I really surprised myself with this idea, capturing the image I wanted on the second try. I thought I would have to take a dozen or more shots to get what I was after!
After the split of GM Buses in the early 90s the Northern bit got the rough end of the deal where minbuses were concerned. The Dodge S56 'Little Gems' were seriously past their best, if indeed they had ever had a best and replacements were sought in the form of MCW Metroriders that were sourced secondhand from a number of fleets. Although the Metrorider was not without its faults GM Buses North started a refurbishment programme and adressed the corosion problem that beset the buses.
Following the First Bus takeover the refurb programme was stopped and nearly new Mercedes Benz minis with Plaxton bodies arrived from Yorkshire Rider. These were a vast improvement and were pretty well recieved, but (theres always a 'but' in stories like this) there wasn't enough to go around. Oldham had Mercs inherited from Citibus, Bolton had Ivecos that came from the same source. What did we get at Wigan, cascaded Dodges from First Centrewest! In fairness Bolton also recieved them as well but after spending a good few years ridding the fleet of Dodges the bastard things were back! These were the bigger S75 version and had Wright bodywork. They took a fleetnumber series that had ironically been used previously by home grown Dodges. The bodywork may be different but they were just like the last ones, boiling in summer, freezing in winter and seriously lacking in power. One time London Buses RW29 is seen at Garswood on a 604 service, now numbered 1908 in the First Manchester fleet.
The Compressor Hall is located on the first floor of the impressive Energy Building.
The air compressors were located in the large compressor hall. Down in the mine, the machines were powered by compressed air to avoid the risk of explosion via electric sparks.

In de grote persluchthal stonden de luchtcompressoren. Beneden in de mijn werden de machines met perslucht aangedreven om het ontploffingsgevaar via elektrische vonken te vermijden.

A transfer comes up the incline at the Bottoms in Kansas City, MO while the DPU of an empty coal train is about to disappear around the corner in the background. The 8178 would later become 1455, and as of 2/24 it's still on the roster sitting dead in Topeka, KS. Photo taken 4/11/14.
A Spring view coming home from work today. I drive this way all the time but it never fails to provide some new scenes! I can't wait to get out and get some pics! I went into Missoula today and seen so many things I'd like to photograph...so maybe this weekend if the weather cooperates!!! Have a nice evening everyone! :) Maybe one of these days I'll catch a sunrise!!!
