Such a scene appears only in that brief, suspended threshold of the year—when the land first gathers its winter covering, yet the lakes, free of ice, hold their dark and yielding depths. The shoreline lies wrapped in untouched snow, set against the somber blue of water still unhardened by cold. Here, it is as though the sky has spread its muted colors upon the earth, joining snow and lake in a silent, vivid exchange. The flawless snow and the water’s unbroken calm echo one another in a poised reverie, a final, fragile alignment before the deepening freeze binds all in winter’s slow, unyielding stillness.

Managed to catch a plane coming in for landing whilst taking doggo for a walk along Lyall Bay Parade. Wellington airport is one of the world’s ‘scariest’ runways at only 1815m long and nearly always battered by strong winds. Only the best pilots a brave enough to land here
