Zagreb is thoroughly modern and beautiful, with a livelier local crowd, fresh markets, and more hidden gems than Prague or Budapest. The Plitvice Lakes are one of the most awesome national parks we have visited so far. And Dubrovnik is like stepping back into the 1400s, all rocky hillside, stone streets, towering city walls, and Mediterranean blue sea. We would love to come back here.

"Let the Dawn Only Come!" - my going-away show at the Philadelphia Institute for Advanced Study. The main piece was an electric garden consisting of hundreds of artificial flowers hand-wired with LEDs in an astroturfed room with fabric walls and projections. Downstairs there was a drawing show, as well as Libby Rosof and Roberta Fallon's opening in GUS; outside the studio was a goodbye mural announcing the show. 2011-02-04. Depuis 30 ans, le village lanaudois de Saint-Côme accueille des sculpteurs de glace en début d'année. La rue principale se transforme alors en galerie à ciel ouvert. Châteaux, animaux fantastiques, objets divers, on trouve de tout à chaque pas. Cette activité donne l'occasion aux villageois de faire une petite promenade de santé, tout en admirant les artistes à l'oeuvre.
Mais il est difficile de faire de la photo ! Quel que soit l'angle que l'on choisit, il y a toujours un coin de bâtiment ou un poteau téléphonique qui vient gâcher l'image. Cette année, il y avait de monumentales pièces d'échec, des loups hurlant à la lune, des orignaux qui s'affrontaient... impossible de les photographier correctement. C'est le beau défi du métier, me direz-vous... J'ai finalement pris cette lune sur fond de nuages, en me disant que je recadrerais une fois à la maison. J'ai pu éliminer les fils électriques... mais le format de ma photo est loin d'être standard !

Handycam is a Sony brand used to market its camcorder range. It was launched in 1985 as the name of the first Video8 camcorder, replacing Sony's previous line of Betamax-based models, and the name was intended to emphasize the "handy" palm size nature of the camera, made possible by the new miniaturized tape format. This was in marked contrast to the larger, shoulder mounted cameras available before the creation of Video8, and competing smaller formats such as VHS-C.
Sony has continued to produce Handycams in a variety of guises ever since, developing the Video8 format to produce Hi8 (equivalent to S-VHS quality) and later Digital8, using the same basic format to record digital video. The Handycam label continues to be applied as recording formats evolve.
