Early morning and she has come to feed the fish in the lake. Waiting impatiently for her grandma to give her the fish food, but grandma is talking to another grandma and is in no hurry...

14th February 2020 at the Queen Elizabeth Hall (Foyer), London SE1.

(free event).

Country: Britain. Style: Jazz - Modern.

Lineup: Binker Golding (conductor/p), 6 x saxs [including Allexa Nava (alto sax), Donovan Haffner (alto sax), Maddy Coombs (temor sax)], 4 x trombones, 4 x trumpets, Sultan Stevenson (p/conductor), guitar, bass, drums.

If anyone can tell me the name of any more of the musicians, I would be most grateful.

The Tomorrow’s Warriors Soon Come Orchestra (probably named after the Steve Williamson composition) is the new name of its Youth Jazz Orchestra. It was conducted by former Warrior Binker Golding. apart from one tune conducted by Sultan Stevenson. The works performed included Sammy Nestico's "Basie Straight Ahead", Wayne Shorter's "Iris" and Golding's "Why some women dance". I have seen live performances Tomorrow’s Warriors groups numerous times since the first in 2006, and taken photos of those since 2010 (see: www.flickr.com/photos/kmlivemusic/tags/tomorrow%E2%80%99s...).

In 1846 Comal County held its first court session in the home of its county clerk, Conrad Seabaugh. Courthouse facilities acquired in 1849 proved inadequate and were replaced with a 2-story building at the southeast corner of the city plaza in 1860. The building fell into disrepair and in 1898 the county chose famous Texas courthouse architect J. Riely Gordon to design a new courthouse. Gordon's original design, incorporating four entrances compatible with the building's proposed location at the center of the plaza, was nevertheless retained when this corner lot site was chosen instead.

Austin contractors Fischer and Lamie used stone quarried 10 miles north of New Braunfels on land owned by Texas/U.S. statesman Edward Mandell house to build this courthouse in 1898. The 3-1/2 story Romanesque-style structure features rounded pavilion entrances often employed by Gordon and includes dramatic massing and superb detail in its stone work. A 1919-31 larger stone jail addition was designed by Jeremiah Schmidt of New Braunfels. The courthouse underwent considerable interior and minor exterior renovations in 1966-67 and 1987. The courthouse reflects New Braunfels German heritage and the spirit of Comal County at the turn of the twentieth century. (1993) (Marker No. 987)

**on these warm spring days, i leave the doors open, otis loves it as much as i do. being a cat, he is very much an advocate for what we call 'the insie-outsies':

"oh, i want to go out!" " oh, let me in!" "oooh, got to be out there right now!" "omg, urgent need to come inside!"

here in the north, the sun has currently been rising at 5:15, and setting around 9, but it doesn't get dark until at least 10; and it isn't even solstice. LOVE IT. this is, of course, the flip side of our winters... the grass is always greener!?!

Come Prima

~ A. R. Ammons

I know

there is

perfection in the being

of my being

that I am

holy in amness

as stars or

paperclips.

that the universe,

moving from void to void,

pours in and out

through me:

there is a point,

only itself,

that fills space,

an emptiness

that is plentitude:

a void that is all being,

a being that is void:

I am perfect:

the wind is perfect:

dishwater, running is perfect:

everything is:

I raise my hand

Our Daily Challenge

"STATE OF MIND"

St Augustine, Ashen, Essex

An exceptionally well-cut mid-19th Century headstone. Could it actually be mid-20th Century?

A portaloo and some stacked fencing outside made me think that they'd just finished some work, but when I rang the churchwarden she told me no, they'd just started! If I still wanted to see inside she would come and unlock, and I did, so she did. All the furnishings are stacked and covered with dust sheets, the chancel is cordoned off by plastic sheets. Very dusty! I was able to photograph the memorial and one of the brasses, and then step through into Pearson's fabulous chancel - remarkable to see such a great Victorian architect on such a small scale, and in East Anglia too. The glass is all by William Wailes, and must have been a complete commission. It must have cost a fabulous amount of money. Well worth seeing, but the church is now out of use until May, when the nave walls will all have been replastered and repainted.

This incredible work of art was found in the attic at my Grandma's house. Both my dad & my uncle remembered seeing it when it arrived at the house but neither had seen it in nearly 70 years & weren't even sure it still existed! It was made by the prisoners in the POW/Displaced persons camp that my Grandfather was in charge of at the end of WWII. It's SO cool!

Close enough ?!

Way too close, in fact, as this is an old Photax camera built by a French company back in the 50's, and it's nothing but a prime wide angle lens.
